I went to a waterpark yesterday, and I'm sunburned, even though I had SPF 45 on.

I am driving to my hometown I haven't been in for a long time. I arrive there in the morning.

I feel terrible. My old scars are aching. I can't stand transport. And I'll never spend night in the riding bus again.

Does anybody know a contemporary song as perfectly sad as Pixies' "Hey"? Genuinely asking here, looking to soundtrack a bit of general existential angst with some new tunes (let's say 2010 and later).

i never even considered that "Hey" might be sad.
i cry at pretty much every song on Blackstar, but not usually from the sadness of the songs themselves, although Lazarus is a gloomy one.
perhaps an unexpected one is EWNESW by danny brown. i'm always overcome by the final verse as he gets more and more indignant, absolutely tearing into the reality of living in a hellhole like detroit, before falling back on the bitterly cynical "...so dog, you from the east side?"

lyrics in that one are pretty heartbreaking, and while the music fits, it doesn't however evoke the same kind of aching longing for something unattainable as "hey" does.
blackstar comes somewhat closer. kinda lacks the aggression of "hey", though. the latter is like a very unusual R&B proto-grunge song, so there's not much else like it out there rn... father john misty's "hollywood forever cemetery sings" and "the ideal husband" kinda scratch that itch a bit for me. maybe earl sweathshirt's "chum" too. EDIT: ooh, charles bradley's "Why Is It So Hard" is great as well

This is pasta puttanesca I've made today. Or at least a dish which is inspired by it. I often made this dish.

hop along kinda fits the bill in a few respects, penne! although it's a bit too emo (like the genre) at times for my taste, i enjoy the parts when it's not (i liked tracks 2 and 5). angel olsen is totally not it lol (no sexy bass/rhythm.. or any bass for that matter). nice enough confessional folk, though. first few tracks of destroyer's this night are pretty cool! more in a neutral milk hotel-ish way. thanks for taking the time to suggest some tunes!
