Did anyone else notice that in The Reptile Room p.96,Mr.Poe says:"I'll have a cup of coffee with nondairy creamer,".'nondairy' being in relation to the Valorous Farms Dairy. It really isn't much of anything but I just wanted to point it out if it becomes important later.

You're reading way too deep there. I mean, what will it be next? Every time somebody says "table" then you'll all be like, "OMGz there wuz a tabl in Olafs towr!!1!!!!!11"
Not important in any way shape or form. I'll not lock this so that other people can come and agree with me.

Non-dairy simply means that it contained no milk products(which makes it healthier for some) and has nothing to do with the dairy farm.
Not every teensy cluelike thing is significant. But the question is, which ones are? If any?

Not only healthier, but Mr. Poe could be lactose intolerant, for all we know.

There's a theme in the books about morally repugnant people being associated with repulsive food. There's the Cafe Salmonella and parsley soda for Esme, Olaf's cold lumpy oatmeal, and so on. Good people tend to have better food: Monty's coconut cream cake, Sunny's ability as a cook, etc. It's a mark of appreciation for life and culture to cook well and appreciate good food, in Lemony's world.
Non-dairy creamer is usually not at all healthy. It is made with saturated fats like hydrogenated cococut oil and it's completely artificial. I think it's appropriate that Poe (who also lives on terrible boiled food at home) would use it.

I'd rant on about how there is such a thing as being too suspicious of clues, but you've alread done it. CURSE YOU FOR SPOILING MY FUN!

I think we've had another thread about someone who read too deep into something. I can't remember the topic.
Anyway, yes. The immediate association for me, is the nonfat creamer used in the anecdote about people being a little bit wrong and people being a lot wrong, in TRR. You know, where the example waiter bites your nose instead of taking your order.
