I was looking about on Wkipedia a few days ago, when I stumbled upon a little info about new TBB and TRR reprintings. (I put a thread in the Putrid Products board for those seeking knowledge about it.) Well, I was looking at shots of the covers, but I noticed some things which I thought were rather amusing. Here is the cover shot for referance. img183.imageshack.us/img183/6950/inaccuratereptileroomreen8.jpgSome little things that bugged me: - The color of Violet's Dress and of Klaus' suit. - Violet not wearing her ribbon (as she does in the majority of the book covers) - How sly (and a bit evil!) Ink looks. - The way that Ink is carrying Sunny in its mouth. - Sunny's facial expression. (It is stated in the book that Sunny felt safe around Ink from the beginning, else she would have cried and/or bit viciously to protect herself.) Ad infinitum. Go on and check out the picture for yourself. And tell me if this belongs elsewhere.

There's a thread about these in Sardonic Series already.
I think they're just meant to have changed their clothes at some point. The original covers do seem to have them wearing the same things all the time, unless they're in disguise, but it makes more sense for them to be dressed differently here to show some time has passed since the end of The Bad Beginning. And Violet's not inventing anything, so she wouldn't have her ribbon in.
I agree with you about Ink and Sunny's expression, but it's probably just to make the picture look more exciting and penny-dreadful-ish.

As pointed out, I made a thread about the release of the cover artwork a few days ago, and here it is (you can also discuss other upcoming Snicket books here). Personally, I'm glad that Violet and Klaus have finally changed their regular clothing; it adds more variety. Similarly, Violet wearing her (ineffectual-looking) ribbon in all the book covers regardless of whether she was inventing something at the time is a trend I'm glad to see Helquist dispense with. And Ink's meant to look sinister, and indeed always has (though his increasingly inconsistent size and colour is odd). And I agree that the cover's likely intended to be pretty melodramatic; I find it consistent with the intended shock effect of the end of TRR Chapter Two. Anyway, as mentioned previously, there's a thread elsewhere, so this is Locked.
