BEFORE YOU DO ANYTHING:
Read the F.A.Q.! Not only does it contain answers to many technical questions, but it also contains links to important threads on the site to help you familiarize yourself with how the forum is run.
Here are a few tips for making your transition onto 667 a little smoother:
1. Bumping is when you take an old thread (two months as a guideline) and resurface it. It can be confusing. Bumping is usually acceptable if you have genuine content to add to the discussion (rather than simply posting "I agree"). If there is a topic you wish to address, create a new thread on the topic and link the old for reference. If you're ever unsure about whether or not to bump, PM the moderator of the section.
2. Similarly, don't double post. Double posting is making two posts in a row without any intervening posts between them. Double posting is usually only tolerated if 24 hours have passed since the last post. In most cases, you can just use the "Edit" button to edit your most recent posts. Within the Menacing Miscellaneous board, double posting is allowed.
3. If you are a new member, and want to introduce yourself, you must make your own welcome thread. In other words, do NOT use someone else's welcome thread (especially if this means bumping someone's old welcome thread to introduce yourself).
4. When deciding where to make a thread, allow the board descriptions to guide you. For example, a thread about Who Could That Be At This Hour? belongs in Wretchedly Wrong Questions, as that is the board for discussing Snicket's newest series. Similarly, a thread about the upcoming Netflix series, belongs in Atrocious Adaptations. Pay attention to sub-boards, particularly those in Sardonic Series, as they might be more suited for your topic than the parent board. Again, if you have doubts about where to make a thread, PM a moderator.
5. If you see a problem with a post, you may use the "Report Post" function (located by selecting the drop down menu from the gear icon in the top right of every post) to alert staff members about the issue. Appropriate use of this function includes instances of spam, rudeness, or inappropriate language. Do not reply to posts with malicious links and/or suspicious advertizements.
6. Mind your spelling. It's difikult 2 reed somthin tiped lik this. Occasional typos, of course, are natural - but bear in mind many other people will be reading your message, and it helps them to form a clear, articulate, and thoughtful reply if your reply is also clear, articulate, and thoughtful.
7. As a forum dedicated to the works of Lemony Snicket, arsenals of threads have been created to discuss various aspects of ASOUE. Don't be discouraged if your topic has been discussed before, and feel free to browse in order to get an idea of what we know and don't know. Snicket's new series, All The Wrong Questions and Netflix's adaptation of A Series of Unfortunate Events still has plenty left uncovered.
If you break a rule, you will receive a warning, and if you break them again, you may receive another warning, or a strike. Three strikes and you are banned, so try not to break them.
