The thread is so long so these might have been mentioned, but a couple of the best (imho):
Les Miserables
and
The Count of Monte Cristo

7 pages of mostly tweens listing whatever books they happen to be reading at the moment + the same dozen 19th century tomes which they invariably haven't read.
and then someone stickied it!!

You, Sir, are a cynic. But we need not let your cynicism destroy our enthusiasm. Btw, I'm in my 30s. And when I was a teen, I did read many of the aforementioned books, so I don't question that these "tweens" have read what they claim to have read. In any case, even if they haven't, the thread's OP simply invited people to add to the list of classic literature, which is just what everyone has done; whether they've read them all or intend to read them in the future is immaterial to the point of the thread.

the thread doesn't have a point, or at least not a good one... no enthusiasm as far as i can see. it's not a discussion about people's favorite classics, it's a painfully dimwitted brainstorming session that is the result of one child asking "what be a classic literature?" and other children responding with the Big Names they've vaguely heard about. anyone who googles "classic literature" will get a better list thru automatic generation (FYI a decade ago, when most of these posts are from, everyone on this forum was under 15. in case you think i'm being derogatory) trip good admins kill bad threads.

Sorry. I didn't realize you were including your former self in the "tweens" category. I can reassure you, it's not as embarrassing as you think it is; or maybe I'm just old enough not to care. The thread was stickied, I honestly did not notice how old it was.

i wasn't including my former self. just saying that the thread hadn't been posted in since 2012, and for good reason. i am here protesting because it easily could have stayed that way if it weren't stickied, but instead it is drawing attention.
