Ok, this is short, and stupid, and nameless, but oh well. Oh, and sorry to SetnicK and Snicket for making them slightly out of character.
“…oh yeah? Well you’re stupider!” Snicket shouted at Robert, who rolled his eyes. SetnicK was just arriving and had not witnessed the beginning of the argument, but assumed the two of them were at it again, arguing over something completely stupid. As she reached them and took her place next to several other 667ers eager to see a fight, she shook her head in disbelief.
Snicket, Snicket, Snicket…she thought to herself. In fact, she hadn’t been able to keep her mind off Snicket all that day. Every little thing, from her Lemony Snicket collection to her brother’s iPod, had reminded her of him, and it was really starting to annoy her. There were plenty of annoying people in the world; why did she had to single him out?
Now Robert was walking coolly away and other people were starting to yell at Snicket. SetnicK toyed with the idea of voicing an insult of her own, but decided against it. She didn’t want to overwhelm poor Snicket…Wait a second, she thought frantically, did I just call him “poor”? Snicket is an idiot and deserves everything she gets, she told herself, though to her astonishment her usual cynical outlook didn’t seem to be working. She realized that, strange as it was, she did in fact feel sorry for Snicket.
And then, to her horror, she mouth began to move. “Hey, leave Snicket alone!” she yelled, before she could stop herself.
Everyone gasped in surprise. “You’re actually defending him?” PJ asked, his eyes wide. A couple of others started to laugh and walk away, and the rest soon followed. Soon, Snicket and SetnicK were alone.
Snicket coughed. “So…I’d like to thank you for sticking up for me,” he said slowly. SetnicK wasn’t sure what to say, so she just stood there and stared at Snicket.
“You’re…Shruti, aren’t you?” Snicket asked, hesitantly, and she nodded. The two of them were staring at each other.
Snicket looked quickly around, then leaned in closer. He spoke in a low voice. “Can I ask you something?” she nodded once again, and Snicket lowered his voice another notch and said something so quietly it could barely pass as a whisper.
She leaned closer, so that they were nearly touching. “What did you say?” she asked breathlessly.
Snicket smiled. “I said-“
“Hey, what’s going on?” a loud, curious voice asked close to SetnicK’s ear, and she started and looked up. A little really cool member was staring at them, half in awe and half in excitement.
“Ok, ok! I admit it! I’m in love with Snicket!” SetnicK yelled in anguish. “You might as well go tell everyone! Let them laugh their heads off! While you’re at it, you might as well tell them we were about to kiss!”
The really cool member giggled in excitement and ran off. Meanwhile, Snicket had blinked and was staring strangely at SetnicK.
“What?” she asked. “We were about to kiss, weren’t we?”
Snicket shrugged. “I was just going to ask you if my hair was sticking up.”
