Hugo Weaving is Elrond I think. And Wizz has just posted terrific news which I have moved to this thread. news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/entertainment/7150644.stmThey're finally making it (them). 2 Hobbit movies will be made simultaneously and released in 2010 2011. At last! There will be 2 of them, though as a correction to Wizz's statement, Peter Jackson will the the producer, they've yet to name a director.

2? Where will the split be? Just before they enter Mirkwood? After? During?

That's my question, I'm not sure. I'm sure more information will be forthcoming.

Awesome, loved reading that book. Yeah that would be a weird split... hopefully they have awesome skills and can pull it of with... awesomeness. Awesome. I going to stop saying that now, seriously.

I'm sure they'll make the transition manageable, and we won't have to wait THAT long for the other half after the first one comes out, since they'll have been made at the same time.

YES!
Finally! The movie!
*grins like mad and hugs everybody*
Hey, did you guys know that there is a Hobbit graphic novel? I work at the library shelving books and I put it away the other day. I flipped through it and...wow...was it odd.

Why are all these attempts to visually recreate the Hobbit so odd?

HE is PERFECT for Elrond in my opinion. He just that Elrond-ness to him. n__n I hope Ian Mckellen is Gandalf again.

I think Ian Mckellen said he was interested in playing Gandalf again.

GOOD. I don't think anyone else could replace good old Ian Mckellen. He was a good actor for Gandalf in LOTR.

He was good in the LOTR series, let's just hope he stays good for The Hobbit.

Yeah only a year for the first one/two years for the second one. We should eventually start a countdown.
