even if I did find it as funny as you did, S2 curbed the show's humour way down in lieu of ~drama~, which I also found regrettable. don't really think I'll care enough to continue if they renew it for a 3rd season. agnes was just the asian lady/plot device character who revealed Chantal was hiding out in Montreal in S1.

Does any1 here know if Maniac is any good? I don't wanna bother spending an hour on it if I'm already pretty sure I won't like it.

Hmm, ok I think I'll give it a try when I get the chance. Dry humour+good soundtrack+aesthetic are big pluses for me. (F.ex. I recently watched the Pilot and 1 ep of The Leftovers and found the aesthetic so bland/TV-like that I stopped watching it for now)

Love Death & Robots
Way, waay overrated at 8.9 on imdb. There were maybe five episodes (from a total of 18) I really enjoyed, but the rest were (some instantly) forgettable and too juvenile for me (ep's like "Sucker of Souls" or "Blind Spot" particularly reminded me of something like an edgier Power Rangers or some 'dark' Saturday Morning cartoon for 8-year olds). My main gripe is with the writing, which is pretty subpar, but most of the animation is pretty great to look at... the life-like 3D animation is quite impressive, but still has an uncanny valley effect on me (which is why I've never liked realistic 3D animation).
My favorite episodes were Ep. 3 "The Witness" (best one for me by far; incredible artistic style, and a cool elliptical story), Ep. 7 "Beyond the Aquila Ridge" (the best one story-wise), Ep. 8 "Good Hunting" (liked the Oriental feel in the storytelling), Ep. 13 "Lucky 13" (surprisingly touching), Ep. 14 "Zima Blue" (interesting story elements in the story ended up cut short/disappointing, but I love Robert Valley's artistic style). Oh and Ep. 2 "Three Robots" was pretty cute.
All in all kind of similar to Animatrix--a 2003 anthology of 9 short films set in the Matrix universe--but iirc Animatrix was a bit better.

Wow, S5.2 of Arrested Development is a train wreck. I hope they don't revive it for another season instead of driving it further away from its earlier brillance. S5's first half was OK, not great, but I feel like they've given up on it for the second half. Even the production values are so low that there's awkward ADR (dialogue replacement, dubbed after shooting) all over the place (f.ex. there's one long exposition-heavy phone call where they hid Jason Bateman's mouth and face with a sun glare throughout the whole long scene to hide the ADR, because I'm guessing he was saying completely different lines on set lol).

Upcoming quintuple post! Watched the final episode of the final season of Silicon Valley. Man, this show is one of the best written comedy TV shows ever made. Even more admiringly, it's one of the best plot-driven comedy shows ever made... unlike other well-written comedy shows that just focus on funny characters and funny dialogue, this one was just constantly driving toward new goals within one story arc, each episode leaving you wanting more, and featuring brilliant comedy tailored to the plot, with gags both small and large in scope. Incredible.

I concluded the second season of Carmen Sandiego, Netflix. I really liked, and I am in expectation of the third season.

"How To with John Wilson": New, Nathan Fielder-produced HBO show that is a stone-cold, timeless little gem. Supposedly it took two years to make the 6 short episodes. My fav's were E2, E5, and the last one, which aired yesterday and ties in with these trying times.

I have been watching His Dark Materials and Once Upon A Time. They’re both really good fantasy/sci-fi stories, so check them out.

I watched and liked it (in order to be surprised by the development of the show after the third episode) with the Netflix series Jurassic World Camp Cretaceous. I found them lost in tone at first, and the level of caregivers' irresponsibility was so great that it ended my suspension of disbelief in the beginning. But I kept watching because ... You know, I like dinosaurs and I like stories about children in danger and how they use their skills to deal with danger. And I like alliterations, so I couldn't help but continue. But then, when the dinosaurs really escape ... Wow! The series is truly epic and surpasses the Jurassic World films in causing distress to the viewer. And it was only long after several episodes that I realized that the events with those children were happening together with the first Jurassic World movie.
I really liked the final half of the series, the characters had their personalities well highlighted, and the protagonist's protagonism is not so strong that he is the great savior all the time, and even makes mistakes. And the discussion about what is friendship (and most importantly, what is not friendship) really moved me, because I think it is a little raised discussion in a children's series.

I just started watching "Grand Army" on Netflix and it's a cool show about teens coming to terms with their identity and navigating the world as a young person (sxual assualt, sexuality, ethnicity, relationships future plans) etc and it's riveting!
