"SURGEON GENERAL'S WARNING", by Terry Craig
Had one cigarette too many, &nicotine went right to my head, too nauseous to take the right train, had to wait way off for the next one, waited long enough to catch a cold, made me miss my bus back home, so instead I went back to my place here, and slipped on some snow on my way there. Could have been arriving home right about now, Instead I'm alone in my flat, writing this down, with a sore throat and a lack of food, My soaking wet shoes in a puddle on the corridor floor, My ass in this city til the next bus in a week. It doesn't even make for a half decent poem, I guess I'll just post this on six-six-seven, maybe it'll get a chuckle out of some-someone.
I posted this in the Feel Free Whatever thread, but then I guessed this here would be the correct board for it. Maybe there will be more? I don't know?

going for a tom waits esque thing? one of my inspirations in my writing is Bukowski, who's also a big influence on Waits, so I guess yeah, in a way : D hah, I like it. I liked the "some-someone" oh and you should post more. thanks, yeah, it's pretty much a true story, just that two or three of the things happened on different (but recent) occasions. Me saying it's not even half a decent poem is not false modesty, though, because if I thought it was really good, I probably wouldn't have posted it on 667 But I still think it's funny enough to enjoy it for what it is I guess I can post some more once in a while, just to get my subpar but amusing poetry out of my system so I will hopefully get better at it

I pretty much fell for his work with "Ham on Rye," which is an autobio on his youth and growing up. If you don't want to tackle a novel yet, "Tales of Ordinary Madness" is a great short story collection. For his poetry I can recommend "Burning in Water, Drowning in Flame." I think especially you might enjoy his work.

"DEAD BIRD"
I saw a celebrity magazine rack in a newsstand today I was appalled at how photoshopped everybody's faces were, Then I saw a dead pigeon on the street it hit a window pane patterned with black bird silhouettes I looked down at it lying at my feet and I felt the need to colour correct its blood It just seemed much too maroon

Not exactly a poem, but I guess I'll just use this thread for any kind of writings that have a title. I had a blast coming up with these.
