American review copies went out two months ago. They're really being very free with it considering it doesn't come out for another five months.

I just finished with my advance copy, I dare say if there are is enough interest we could hold a contest and I'd mail it to the winner. Thoughts?

I'm unsure. Something silly and pirate-y most likely. We'll see how many interested folks we get. And just so I can do the kidnapper ransom cliche, here is a picture of the book with a recent newspaper to prove I'm not giving away something nefarious!* *Contest Prize may also include something nefarious.

I'd be interested in that. I know 667 gets a lot less traffic these days... but that just means each individual has a higher chance of winning, so I'm sure a contest is still a popular option in its own way.

the cheapskate in me says to limit it to US/Canda only but I love my UK friends so if someone can give me an estimate of what it would cost to ship it across the ocean I may consider international entries as well.

I looked around and I honestly couldn't find any precise fingers to pin down... but for a book, I can't imagine it should be that much; I've sent books to America before and not been charged a great deal. Maybe enquire at your local postal services?

ircalc.usps.govIt looks like USPS says ~24 USD if you use their padded flat-rate envelope, small flat-rate box, or large video flat rate box? I'm not sure what the dimensions of the book are but the last (and largest) of those options is 9-1/4" x 6-1/4" x 2" (max weight 4 lbs), which seems like it should be sufficient, hopefully?

note to contest winners outside the US. With the super cheap postage rate, It may be February before it arrives

It had occurred that February is now significantly sooner than it used to be...

The publisher's attitude to this book seems to have been "release dates, what are those?"
Edit: To clarify that, I have actually seen quite a few contests and giveaways and auctions of copies already. If you really, really want one, the only place you won't be able to get seems to be an actual bookstore.
