And I don't mean the Chicago based indie band, no, I mean the landmark TV show from the 90s: Here's the gist according to Variety: The new segs will be set in the present day and continue storylines established in the second season. Lynch will direct each episode, and he and Frost are currently writing scripts. It will “not be a remake or reboot,” Frost told Variety, which noted that ”the passage of 25 years will be an important element in the plot.” You may have already heard the news somewhere else, but let's discuss whether anyone here's seen the show (so far); would you like to see another season? Whaddya expect from it? Will all the CGI in the world make Lara Flynn Boyle as beautiful as she was in the 90s again?

I still need catch up on the original Twin Peaks, but I am pretty hyped.

I will obviously watch this out of curiosity, but I stopped watching the original specifically because of storylines established in the second season. I thought people were in agreement that Twin Peaks is dumb without the Laura Palmer case. (Also, I thought Twin Peaks was already back.)

A problem which will be remedied. I can't remember exactly how far I got, I think I only saw up to not long after the case finished. I'll have to attempt a full watch before this new one at some point. That show you like is back in style.

Oh, I didn't realize David Lynch left. That explains it.

That was the impression I had, he left after the murder was resolved and then came back for the final episode.
Ok, I found it.

Yep, it's true that by the time David Lynch distanced himself from the series (right after the revealing of the killer) the show took a nose-dive. Tellingly, though, the final episode, with Lynch back as director, is awesome again (I found watching the whole bank set piece felt similar to watching Hitchcock at his best).
Nevertheless, the whole first season, and some of the second, was terrific, and some of its moments would still be daring for today's TV.
The new Twin Peaks is also exciting because it'll be the first thing Lynch is going to direct since 2006's Inland Empire.

So I just watched the first two episodes of this. Didn't think much of it, to be honest. I think it has enough mysteries going on to keep me watching, but maybe a few too many for me to be completely invested in it.
Also, I don't know much of Lynch's work (in fact, the only movie I've seen by him is Mulholland Dr.), but the acting is really bothering me. I don't know if it's on purpose (it reminds me a little of the first part of Mulholland) or just how 90's tv series rolled or what but jeez.

Definitely watch the next one, the episode "Zen, Or The Skill To Catch A Killer," which is the third episode including the pilot, is my fourth favourite episode of the whole series. My third favourite episode of the show is the season one finale.
Around the first two episodes of any show, I think, you're merely beginning to see what the show is like. For example I was surprised by some of the humorous and over-the-top elements of Twin Peaks (like some characters and their acting), but then realized that it wouldn't be the same without it, like f.ex. without Lynch's near-deaf character in the second season.
