UPDATE 3.6.2015: A second illustration has been posted.UPDATE 19.3.2015: Click here to see the first of the unreleased illustrations! More to come in following weeks See the petition here As discussed here, it was found that Brett Helquist had illustrated The Miserable Mill, Or Hypnotism!, which was never released. Although he said that he might look for them, Helquist isn't sure where his originals are and it could be a long time before we see them, if ever. All we have at the moment is a very tiny version of the cover. Therefore, I thought to contact Harper Collins, just to ask if they have any illustrations themselves that they may share with us. Whether they have internal illustrations, a higher quality version of the cover or nothing at all, I think it'd be worth a try. However, they may not bother going to the lengths of looking just for one fan, so to show that the Snicket community in general is interested in this, I've set up a petition This isn't to demand that the images are released, but rather to exhibit how many people are interested when I go to inquire. I'd greatly appreciate it if you'd take a quick moment to sign; thanks! EDIT: If you do sign, please fill in each box, including the 'I'm signing because' box, and tick the 'Display my signature on Change.org' box, as from my experience on this site, signatures aren't always counted if this doesn't happen. I'm not sure why!

I'm giving this Announcementage for a week to gauge interest, but I'll also look into some other avenues to see how successful this might be. Not many petitions secure their objective, but this is a good reminder that there's strong fan interest on this subject; we all want to see more of what Mr. Helquist had up his sleeve (and it's worth noting that I suspect there may exist unseen illustrations beyond merely TMM). Though it's worth bearing in mind that the illustrations may be no easier for HarperCollins to dig up than for Mr. Helquist...
Fingers crossed, though!

Thanks for that! The petition is indeed to show fan interest when it comes to contacting the publishers, if they don't see it beforehand, rather than acting as a petition-based campaign. Even if they don't have any of the images, it'll be interesting to get a response and find out. We shall see!

I posted a link to this on the SnicketFile tumblr.
Also I love the picture in your new avatar, Pev; great Helquisting!

Thank you very much indeed, for both lines of your post! My avatar is of a character that I hope to feature in a stop-motion film next year and I painted him for a research project on Brett Helquist

For what it's worth, my contact has passed along the enquiry, and while I'm under no illusions, it's possible that we might get some kind of status update.

Sorry to post twice in a row. I thought I'd try sending my request to the general customer service address; I got this reply: Good Afternoon, You can go to our website Harpercollins.com there are a large quantity of titles and also check Amazon.com. Best Diana Anyway, it was never my plan to contact customer services so it's no problem that they were no help at all EDIT: Ah, to be specific, it was the address for order inquiries, so it's not so bad that directed me to where I could make an order!

It's hard knowing exactly which e-mail addresses to target; I used to occasionally send enquiries to addresses like those, and often wouldn't get a reply. Is there a specific address out there for HarperTrophy? They were the imprint that the paperbacks were printed under.

Interesting, thanks for suggesting them. I was planning on eventually sending physical letters to both the American and UK addresses for Harper Collins, for the sake of attracting more attention than an email, although I also plan to look into more potential emails. Thanks for mentioning Harper Trophy- they also have a mail address. I'll let the petition get a few more signatures, if it's going to (already at 57), and then look into writing to them

For reference, I intend to promote the petition on Twitter in the future, but it depends on whatever reply or lack thereof I might get to my own enquiries.
Edit: Nothing yet, but with just the signatures from here I felt there was enough to go public on Twitter to keep this current.

Wow! This is great news, Pevalwen. Thanks for sharing!
We should be able to match up the illustrations with their accompanying quote in the series, since they don't appear to be posted.

This is truly amazing. Thank you, Pevalwen, for initiating this! It's such a thrill seeing new artwork for this series... and it's exciting to know that there's more to come!
