Tried typing "letmein" to the VFD, how sweet would it have been if that was the password?

When we grab you by the ankle Where our mark is to be made, you'll soon be doing noble work although you won't be paid. When we drive away in secret, You'll be a volunteer, so don't scream where we take you

Nice, I also think that version of the eye is the best way to go. Did you stick to the inside of your left ankle? How bad was it?

I would never put the eye anywhere but my left ankle, I saw someone who got it on the back of the neck and felt scandalized, haha. Anyway, getting the tattoo wasn't all that bad, I had my leg at a weird angle and it kept cramping up, but the coloring in was really the only thing that hurt for me, especially the top part. The quote on my chest also wasn't that bad, until my artist got to the "the world" parts, cause they were closer to a bone (he worked from left to right) All in all, I have wanted the eye for a long time so I could deal with any pain to get it and the quote was on impulse but I love it anyway Sorry for rambling xxx

I'm not interested in getting a tattoo myself, but were I to, there is absolutely no way it wouldn't be VFD's infamous eye (in fact, this version and on the outer left ankle, like you seem to have it). I think it's a great testament to the series' impact on a personal level how some people choose to embed their admiration of it into their own bodies, and your tattoo seems particularly well done!
Let me just say, I wish I would just sort of accidentally stumble into someone with the VFD tattoo (in the proper place, naturally - although I know that drastically lowers the odds of me noticing). You'd get a polite "Have you been good to your mother lately?" from me, provided I could catch my breath in time after realising that I was in such close proximity of a fellow fan.

Omg, me too! Before I got mine, I had developed a habit of looking at peoples ankles, trying to see if I would meet someone with the tattoo.
I don't remember the correct placement being on the inner ankle though, when I was reading the books the first time, dreaming about the day I'd get my VFD tattoo, I noticed it being on the outer ankle, like on Count Olaf, and Kit Snicket. Did I miss something in the books? I always thought it was the outer ankle, where people could see it.

In the movie it's on the outer ankle, because it really is hard to see anything on the inside. The matter isn't clarified in-text, but all of Brett Helquist's illustrations have it on the inside.

The illustrations aren't consistent as to the exact placement or design of the tattoo; inside left is the most common, but there's at least one instance where it's outside left, and I wouldn't be surprised if there was a right in there somewhere either. I'm not sure if the text ever mentions placement. Design consistency is even worse - I don't know where Brett Helquist got TSS Chapter Ten from. So you're fairly free to go with what works.

Sorry, I think it's unwise to permanently mark myself with a symbol when the meaning of the symbol may change at any moment.

Sorry, I think it's unwise to permanently mark myself with a symbol when the meaning of the symbol may change at any moment. I agree, just wondering if you were ever planning on it. And I spent ages finding that emoji, too.
