I think we can safely say our release date now, and it looks like every book in the series will have come out earlier in the year than the one that preceded it, which is a bit of a milestone. Still, I wonder why it took them almost a month to formally reveal the cover art? A rigidly-planned schedule on the one hand and an accidental early release of information on the other, I assume. This poster doesn't really tell us anything we didn't know before, but it is pretty fine, and the plot is starting to hove into view.

I don't like the third "question" at all. The "derailed" pun is absolutely terrible, but I still really enjoyed it for some reason.
The poster's font is a bit strange; I'm not sure I like it. And I notice they've used the "Association of Associates" logo in the bottom-left corner: if my memory serves me right, that came from the Twitter amnesia thing. It's a nice addition to the poster.

I like the poster, and it makes me imagine the Snicket will be jumping from a train track. Probably not, lbr, but it would fit in nice with the fall in ?1.
What are those things under the overpass - flowers?

The seaweed of the Clusterous Forest, I suspect.

I like that "Association of Associates" logo as well, and that train illustration in the background is definitely new. Is this why it says "Back cover elements" in the thread title?
The font and white/green rising-sun rays make it look a bit like a local concert poster, but after all I guess this is just a little promo thing and not more.

I assumed that was because it included the four questions which will presumably appear on the back cover of ?4. But I obviously didn't make the thread, so I'm not certain.

It's very likely that the text is from the back cover - the alternative is that they invented text exactly structured to the back covers rather than using the back cover text they already had. I strongly suspect that the background illustration is from the back cover, too, though it's possible it's colour-edited from the interior (the interior illustrations never use grey).

"When everyone in the train is suspicious, how do you know who to follow?"
That reminds me of "The Penultimate Peril" and it makes me happy <3

Yeah, now I think about that, it's pretty probable/cool! I wonder if something about the sickness of Pip&Squeak's dad is going to take them there too.

Yeah, now I think about that, it's pretty probable/cool! I wonder if something about the sickness of Pip&Squeak's dad is going to take them there too. I've always just thought of Pip and Squeak's dad's illness as an excuse for them being able to drive the taxi; I suppose it's a possibility and I'd like to see some kind of development in that area, but everyone seems to have forgotten about their dad (I don't even think he was mentioned in ?3). I think it's more likely something will happen with Moxie and her father.

Pip and Squeak and their father has been something set up for long enough that I'm sure there's some payoff coming, though I can't imagine what it is. I agree that their father's illness is highly suspect, but there could be any number of things really going on.

There are so many absent or inactive parents in the books, though, that one wonders whether it's more a matter of theme than an actual plot question that needs to be resolved; can there really be resolutions for all of them? (Moxie's father and mother, Ellington's mother, Pip and Squeak's father, Ornette's mother... We do know about Cleo's parents, though they're also absent. I can't remember what has happened to Jake's parents. And of course there is a mystery involving Lemony's parents as well.)

I can't remember what has happened to Jake's parents. Well, Hungry his aunt is around, but I don't think his parents are ever mentioned. I could be wrong.
