The more I stare at it, the more I'm sure the picture with the Bauds and Olaf is removable.

Ooooh!! That does look really good -- although I do wish they'd kept it looking exactly as it does in the show. The placement of the Baudelaires/Olaf/the ASOUE title does feel a bit unbalanced. It always makes me kind of sad how prominent Count Olaf is compared to the Baudelaires in Netflix's promotion (though I understand the reasons why), though in this case, considering NPH has written the introduction, I suppose it's only fair. I suspect that the image on the front cover may be some kind of easily removable sticker. A lot of books and DVD/Bluray boxsets have been using them lately as a way of making a product more appealing to the casual buyer by showing off the famous people associated with the item while ensuring that the dedicated fans can have a more aesthetically pleasing package when they purchase it. I was indeed hoping that this might be the case!

I really hope (and think) it'll be removable, since the point of the book seems to be that it's designed to match the show prop. I think that's pretty cool, and though it does seem a little bit expensive (I don't really have any experience with the price of these behind-the-scenes coffee table books), I've no doubt that I will be getting this book at my earliest convenience.

This might a bit off-topic, I know, but what does everyone think about whether this will be released before or after the final season premieres? I personally think that Season 3 may come out November 1st, considering the tie-in books are intended for release the 11th. Does anybody know how long after the previous seasons' releases the corresponding tie-in books appeared?

I think the S2 tie-ins came out around June 11th, over a month after Season 2, and there's no way Season 3 is coming in September (I think)

That's a standard price for these things, cheaper than a lot of them, even. But if it's anything like the ones I've bought before now, it will really be worth it! ^_^

Oh my. Releasing this the day before Halloween is a wonderful, wonderful decision in my opinion. I know what my most anticipated two days of the year are, now.

Interestingly, the book's listing on the Hachette website now offers an audiobook version, also being released on the 30th of October. Given what little we know about the book, it will certainly be interesting to see how they adapt it into an audio format.

...perhaps I was mistaken to assume this would be something like an art book...

A second listing for the book has appeared on Amazon UK, listing Ilex Press as its publisher instead of Hachette. www.amazon.co.uk/Incomplete-History-Secret-Organizations/dp/1781576866/The only differences between this listing and the current one are 1) a slightly re-formatted description: The perfect companion to Netflix's adaptation of A Series of Unfortunate Events, The Incomplete History of Secret Organizations is a fourth-wall-breaking deep dive into the hilariously twisted saga and the creative team that brought it to life. Discover a host of insider secrets about the show and the Baudelaire family with interviews from the cast and crew, as well as everything from exclusive looks at storyboards and sketches to the Baudelaire orphans' pasta puttanesca recipe. Foreword by Neil Patrick Harris Profiles of characters and cast Interviews with cast and crew Never-Before-Seen storyboards and sketches Annotated script excerpts Behind-the-Scenes photographs Violet Baudelaire's most intriguing inventions Guide to the show's hidden clues and Easter eggs Lyrics to the opening title songs Glossary of terms defined in the show The Baudelaires' Recipe for pasta puttanesca and 2) a new release date: October 31st. (I'm assuming this listing is legitimate since not only is Ilex Press a successful UK publishing house, they are a publishing house known for their glossy photo books.)

It's pretty standard for Hachette-published books to have separate U.K. publishers, so that makes sense.

If the show is out in November, I wonder how close its release will be to this book (considering it might feature spoilers).

The next set of tie-in novels are currently listed on Amazon.co.uk as being out on the 20th of November, which seems relevant. I'd expect everything to be out within a week or two of each other; probably it would be relatively easy to put back the release date of An Incomplete History a week or so if necessary.

I wouldn't be surprised if they just stick with the 30th of October release -- some of the behind the scenes books for Fantastic Beasts included information not revealed in the first film which could be kind of spoilery, so I'm not sure if the people who produce these kinds of books always mind too much if they release information a bit early.
