I don't think Olaf is truly related to the Baudelaires.
I also don't think the O in the Snicket family tree is Olaf because then that would make him Kit's cousin. I don't think the Snickets would have anything to do with incest.

I doubt it was a relationship anyone particularly approved of anyway, so I'm not sure this really counts as a mark against, especially considering that marriage between first cousins is entirely legal in much of the world. Besides, Daniel Handler literally wrote the book on incest.

but on the other hand, I always thought he was Bertrand's ant-burning cousin. I headcanon that this was Olaf’s mother. I always knew the cousin was female because my mothertongue has two different words for male and female cousins.

I don't think the Snickets would have anything to do with incest. By Mosaic law, cousin marriage is not prohibited. (Although marriage between an aunt and nephew is forbidden.)
