I'm rerereading the series now, solving mysteries--I think I'm a Very Fine Detective.

Hello! I've been binge watching the series, as most of you likely have, and I noticed something odd--a couple things odd, really. The Volunteer Factual Dispatches have...mistakes? For starters, every single VFDispatch shown throughout the series reads, "RECIEVED AT" (and then a four-number code). Many of you are no doubt flinching at my gross misspelling of such a simple word, but I wasn't the one to originally misspell it--VFD was. (Or maybe Netflix, it could go either way at this point.) This might seem insignificant (although it really was on every. single. dispatch.), but there were also issues with the decoding part of the dispatches. In the end of WW1, the telegram to Mr. and Mrs. Quagmire reads, "RECIEVED AT 16 5 18 21;" the number portion translates (when lined up according to A=1, B=2, etc.) to "P-E-R-U," which led me to believe that the VFDispatches were truly decoded as simply as that. (And, of course, Mr. Quagmire filling out the Dispatch like so proved the theory. However, in this dispatch, 14 somehow stands for both N and T (and, following that, T could be either 14 or 20). I originally believed it was an mere oversight, but other dispatches have shown "RECIEVED AT" labels with numbers that don't quite fit, and could possibly also have errors. For example, the Dispatches in TGG episodes: (To the Queequeg) 13 7 25 31 = M-G-Y-? (possibly E, because 31-26=5?) (Also to the Queequeg, but the address changed?) 4 23 8 19 = D-W-H-S (To Gregor Anwhistle, probably in Anwhistle Aquatics) 14 2 7 10 = (N or T)-B-G-J (Queequeg again) 19 6 3 14 = S-F-C-(N or T) So, what's going on? Could these possibly be initials for something, or just arbitrary numbers chosen by the props team?

Admittedly, I haven't been back to review for myself, but it's a sad fact that the text-based props in the series have tended not to stand up to freeze-framing (or pausing, if you prefer); so I would assume that these are simply errors. "RECIEVED AT" would likely be a single error on the original template for all the telegram props, duplicated over and over; the first set of relevant numbers is likely just for fun because it was an easy reference to include, but I would imagine that the rest are all random. These props aren't designed to pass scrutiny; they're designed to pass under your eyes for less than a second and look broadly accurate on a first impression. (It's not as if the books don't have the odd typing error, too; even the telegram in TBL has a misspelling on the letterhead.)
