I know that Olaf is obviously the one at fault here. But I feel like Book 13 in particular highlights how the kids can participate in a lot of drama. I feel like the island is worse than the Hotel Denouement, because the kids almost got themselves killed. All they had to do was tell everyone that Olaf had the poison, and the accident with the harpoon gun would never have happened...

Can you be certain that the Baudelaires would have been believed? They have a poor track record on being trusted and trustworthy.

I think the mutiny was something some of the colonists were planning long before the Baudelaires arrived on the island, and I think it would have been more likely to happen as planned if the Baudelaires had not arrived. Instead, Ishmael had someone to blame all their problems on, and the colonists banded together over distrust of the Baudelaires.
