I went to an exhibition in Rio called The Night Library. Something really immersive, rewarding and free, in the Copacabana neighborhood.
I visited this exhibit last month, but I still feel impacted to this day.
The exhibition was designed by a Canadian named Robert Lepage. I will tell you some details, so there will be spoilers. The first part of the exhibition is a replica of a library of Robert Lepage's own house, with a very touching narration, in which lights come on in sync with the narration. I felt in one of the VFD libraries. Then we are taken to another room, where we use Virtual Reality devices and we "visit" 10 libraries around the world. One in particular touched me deeply, which was the library in the former Yugoslavia. The Library has been wiped out of history because of a fire in the midst of a war. The scene where the fire is consuming the books as a cellist plays sad music and warplanes and tanks are seen through the library windows is amazing and sad at the same time.
