I've listened to
Purple Mountains: Purple Mountains Danny Brown: uknowhatimsayin¿ Thom Yorke: ANIMA Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds: Ghosteen Tyler, the Creator: IGOR
and I liked them all in different ways. "Ghosteen" was beautiful in an ethereal way, but I don't see myself returning to it often, however. It kind of feels a bit like a movie, a mood piece you listen to intently all the way through. David Berman's epitaph, "Purple Mountains" is likely my favorite of the year.
I also listened to Billie Eilish's record (I mostly liked "Bad Guy", the obvious choice), and a couple other albums I don't quite remember, but probably wouldn't put them on my list above. I was also a bit letdown by Ty Segall's 2019 record, "First Taste", but I remember it still being fun to listen to. I still have to listen to Bill Callahan's album, Big Thief, and few others I'm sure (Angel Olsen, Weyes Blood also come to mind).
