A peach I like peaches but it's not really peach season yet, so it didn't have the strongest flavour, but the level of ripeness was surprisingly okay. 9/13 Pizza I made pizza for dinner yesterday. Or actually I started on Wednesday because the dough needed time to rise. It was great pizza dough, chewey and crispy and exactly the right thickness. Isadora Is a Door already took some of his before I took the picture. His half was divided in 3 sections, one with chicken and chorizo, one with tuna and olives and chilies and one with anchovies and different olives and the same chilies. My half was divided in 4 sections: anchovies and olives, chorizo, mushrooms and chilies, feta, tomato and chilies and tuna and sweetcorn. PIZZA/13, pizza cannot be compared to anything or expressed in numbers.

Gum I had this in my mouth for about 5 minutes, of which I enjoyed maybe the first 15 seconds. I hate chewing gum. I'm too much of a saving the best for last kind of person, I enjoy things most when they increase in quality as they go on and need them to at least not decrease noticeably to enjoy them at all. Chewing gum is the exact opposite of that, you put it in your mouth and from there it goes downhill rapidly. 1/13.

I do, I can translate it
Ingredients: 2 medium sized apples 160g white flour 160g whole grain flour 1.5 tsp baking powder 1 tsp bicarbonate of soda 1.5 tsp cinnamon 2 eggs 80g sugar (I normally use brown) 125ml oil (I use sunflower) 310ml buttermilk or natural yoghurt 1tsp vanilla extract a bit of sugar and cinnamon
1. Peel the apples and cut them in pieces 2. Mix the flours, baking powder, bicarbonate of soda and cinnamon in a bowl 3. Add the apples 4. Beat the eggs in another bowl and mix in the sugar, oil, buttermilk and vanilla extract 5. Combine the dry and wet ingredients 6. Put in muffin cases 7. Bake at 180°C for 25-30 minutes 8. Immediately sprinkle sugar and cinnamon on top

I went slightly out of order this weekend, and there was a lot of squezing of citrus fruits going on. Tea and toast I had this for breakfast yesterday (and also a kiwi but that's not part of the tea and toast so it didn't make the picture). The tea was a loose leaf darjeeling which came from my advent calendar, and I added almond milk. I don't mind a cup of tea in the afternoon, but in the morning I'm definitely a coffee person. The toast was homemade bread made with half white flour and half wholemeal. The first piece was with apricot jam and the second one with crunchy peanut butter. It suffered a bit from edges-burnt-but-middle-hardly-toasted-syndrome, but was okay. 8/13 Homemade Lemonade I have never made lemonade before and it somehow tasted less lemony than I expected, even though I used more lemon juice and less sugar than most recipes said. Maybe the lemons could have been riper or just weren't great ones. It was still nice and refreshing though. 10/13 Muffins and freshly pressed orange juice These are my childhood favourite apple and cinnamon muffins which I haven't made for years, they are amazing. The orange juice was really nice too, just the right combination of sweet and sour. The oranges smelled lovely when I cut them open and it made me want to eat an actual orange so I have to get more. 13/13

No foreign language learning going on for me at the moment, but I am exposed to new programming languages at work and spent most of my week in a state of confusion.

Cheer Up Cheeseburgers I made black bean burgers using this recipe, but bought the buns. The face is little tomato slices, mustard and ketchup. Mine had melted cheese, lettuce, caramelised onions, more slices of little tomatoes and more mustard on. Isadora Is a Door doesn't like cheese, so he got some smashed avocado instead, and he prefers ketchup to mustard so he had more of that. I also added home made baby potato oven chips, because I happened to have leftover baby potatoes that needed eating. Drawing a mouth with ketchup is a lot more difficult than I expected. We were really surprised how tasty these are, it's probably not something we would ever have thought about making but will definitely make again. 13/13 A banana I ate a banana at work, from the box of free fruit in the office kitchen. I didn't take a picture because I didn't want my colleagues to think I have gone mad. It was yellow and... banana shaped. It had a little sqashed bit on the inside but not too squashed to eat. 11/13 including a bonus point for being free. So this means we have finished book 3 and moved on to the Miserable Mill recipes Blueberry Pancakes This was the my first attempt of making thick pancakes and pancakes with anything mixed in. These took a lot longer to cook than I thought and the first one went all scrambled because I tried to turn it too early. I'm not really convinced, they tasted a bit too battery for me instead of being fluffy, and because they took so long to cook I had to use too much oil to stop them from burning on the outside before they are done on the inside, so they were a bit greasy. The blueberries were really nice and I still sort of enjoyed them but there is definitely room for improvement. 9/13 Beef casserole I mostly used the recipe linked in my previous post, but the beef came in a slightly smaller pack and I didn't want to buy 2 so I added a few mushrooms. I also used a yellow and a green pepper instead of two red ones, which made it look nice and colourful when it was cooking. I didn't bother with the pecans and just served it with normal boiled rice. This was another surprise, not something I would ever have chosen to make but I really enjoyed it. The beef was a bit overcooked, probably because I have never cooked beef before, but the taste of everything was great. Also I just had a few days where I just didn't stop feeling hungry after meals, no lentil curries, bowls of pasta or "superfood" bowls seemed to fill me up, but this did, so I assume there was something in there that my body needed. 11/13, has the potential for a 12 or even 13 if the beef wasn't overcooked.

I have always preferred dark chocolate and grapefruit was my favourite fruit as a small child. But maybe I'm just a weirdo I think I generally have a low sensitivity for taste, that's also why I like to put too much salt on stuff and hate bland food. I think it was also part of the reason why I was perceived as a picky eater as a child, because people normally offer children mild versions of everything and assume they don't like the whole food group if they don't like the mild version. For example I thought I didn't like cheese for many years, because the first cheese I was given as a child was the sort of boring cheese that hardly tastes like anything and feels a bit like rubber.

My hormones are potato ed anyway so I might as well eat soy. But I think I'm going to use lentils for my lasagna. The pizza looks good, but then again most pizza does. I'm trying to decide about the casserole. I think I might use this recipe, because a) it doesn't use a casserole dish which I don't have, b) doesn't use a slow cooker which I don't have and c) doesn't cook for several hours which I don't have. But it's not the classic thing you imagine with root vegetables and stuff like that so I don't know if it's cheating. I need to post about burgers and bananas, but Isadora Is a Door has the burger pictures. Also I enjoy this whole thing so much and it helps me so much with meal planning and after doing two books I already think I will be so sad when it's over.

Chilled Cucumber Soup I found a recipe which was just cucumber blended with lime yoghurt, herbs and lime juice. The recipe was for 4 portions and I may have halved all the ingredients except the lime juice, so it tasted a bit too acidic. 8/13 Orange juice and untoasted bread I had this for breakfast yesterday, putting different things on each piece of bread (that's why the slices are cut in half). The bread was baked at home with a flour and seed mix from a mill near where my parents live. The orange juice was just normal orange juice bought in a shop. I have bread for breakfast most weekend days, but not normally with orange juice. I really like this bread and the orange juice was nice and tangy. 12/13 Cold Lime Stew I liked the opportunity to get creative with this, so here is the recipe I made up Ingredients- 3/4 of a cucumber - 1 small avocado - some herbs, I used mint, dill and chives - 1 lime - a few small tomatoes - about a tablespoon of tinned black beans 1. Blend about 2/3 of the cucumber and the avocado with the juice of half the lime and the herbs 2. Cut the rest of the cucmber and avocado and the tomatoes in pieces and add to the blended mixture 3. Scoop out the flesh of the other half of the lime and add 4. Add the beans 5. Mix with a spoon and put in bowls It was very refreshing and LOOK HOW GREEN IT IS! This will definitely make a return in the summer when it's too hot for cooked food. 12/13 Crackers. I still haven't taken a picture of crackers, but they are just normal crackers I think. I tried to whistle but failed until the cracker had basically dissolved in my mouth which was an unpleasant feeling. The crackers are nice for just eating normally, especially with the cold lime stew. 10/13 for just generic cracker eating, 3/13 for the whistling experience and 0/13 for me not taking a video of it.

I like a bit of bitter, like dark chocolate or coffee, but not too much like the tea I started making yesterday but then forgot about and still had the tea bag in half an hour later.
Bitterness can be a warning sign that something isn't safe to eat or has gone bad, so it's quite sensible to not like it too much.

That does sound slightly complicated, but not necessarily impossible. You probably need to break down the task into smaller ones so you can find the right tools and line them up in the correct order, e.g. frst find something that breaks down your text and identifies the categories of each word. The most challenging part is probably getting the replaced words into the correct grammatical form. What you can use also depends where and how you want to use it (e.g. different programming languages, do you need a user interface, etc)

I just realised I haven't posted my cereal, that's because the picture is on Isadora Is a Door's phone. Isadora Is a Door eats cereal most days, and when he's "done" with a pack (i.e. he thinks there isn't a whole portion left but I think there probably would be most times), I seal up the bag properly and put it in another old box, so I have small amounts of different cereals whenever I want to just grab a handful of dry cereal or put it some in my yoghurt. So for this occasion I just mixed 4 different types of cereal and added some oat milk. I enjoyed it at the start, but then it went soggy and I remembered that that's why I hardly ever eat a bowl of cereal with a liquid. 8/13, picture may follow if I can be bothered.
