I like cheering people up, so no.
As for cheering up people personally--it all depends on:
a) Whether I like them or not. b) Whether they have a genuine reason for sadness or if it's just cr*p like "omggg omg i kut 2day : '((((". c) Whether they're telling just one person or telling the whole school. There's a difference between problem-sharing and problem-announcing/attention-whoring. There are a lot of those at my school.
