I'm nearsighted. We all went to go get our eyes checked yesterday and I was late for band practice and I had a game that night to play at and the doctor was rushing everything. My little brother and sister need them, too, but for the exact opposite reason! Anyone else want to add comments about eyes, glasses, and the eye doctors'? We can make this the eye thread.

I'm shortsighted...pretty badly, as it were. Though I've stopped becoming worse, apparently.
Can't wait till I can have laser eye surgery.

I'm nearsited. I got glasses around two years ago, but then lost them in a couple of days. (I think a certain person took them home but thought they were his)

*has great vision*
I have no interesting stories about glasses because I've never needed them.

I have a great deal of trouble remembering whether nearsighted means you can only see things close-up or you can't, so I'll just say that I can't see things from a distance very well. I have glasses, but they tend to break in my backpack. My backpack is a deadly place.

I'm extremely nearsighted, and have had glasses for about 8 years. A couple years ago, I found out that my eyes are so bad I'm considered "legally blind" without any glasses (which really makes me wonder about the reliability of the system they use to determine that, since I can still, you know, SEE things, and most blind people, last time I checked, cannot).

I think that's nearsighted, because you can see things near but not far. That's what I am. Oh, how I despise glasses. If you've noticed, all of the pictures I've posted in the picture thread are me without glasses on, because I look heinous wearing them.

I have perfectly perfect vision, which is bad because I've always wanted glasses. When I was little I used to fake those eye tests but they found out. I had my eye on these perfect purple Barbie glasses too. It was a sad, sad day. Deanna! Your signature is hot.

Sometimes my vision isn't at its best, but it's a brain problem, not an eye problem. My fourth grade teacher advised that I get contact lenses when I'm older to make my eyes the same color, but why would I want to? It's pure dead wicked!

I thought you were homeschooled, Skeleton Key? Also, your eyes are two different colors? I thought that was only possible in males...
Um, I have glasses for distances, but I only need to wear them for driving or when I can't see the board in school or things of that nature.

I was public schooled in fourth grade, when I was ten. Now I'm eleven, and in seventh.
Either one goes green once in a while, and they have purple rings around the irises when I'm concentrating or frustrated. I'm a living Mary Sue! *sob*

I don't know who told you that, but it doesn't make sense. To be legally blind you must have vision of 20 over 200 AFTER correction. So, you can't be "legally blind" unless you see that poorly after glasses. I've been in glasses since I was five. Unfortunately, they can only fix the nearsighted-ness and astigmatism, because the things that really give me problems are the nystagmus (constant random movement of the eyes) and albinism. That is not correctable, so I still see 20/50 to 20/60 after glasses, if I'm not feeling poorly or tired. That makes my vision worse. Luckily, the fact that there is nothing on the roads to hit in South Dakota means that I did get a driver's license. I'm getting new glasses in a few days, and I'm excited about it. The last pair they gave me was wrong, so I've been waiting awhile.
