This Chick man is a disgrace. He portrayed First Nations people as being dirty because they do not beleive in Jesus. What a sick pathetic man.

Wow. I see nothing wrong with Christians trying to convert. I personally am a Wiccan. Wicca has actually been around longer than Christianity, and it is a very principlmatic and good religion. No animal sacrifice, no bloodshed. Wicca is about understanding the connections between all living creatures. Not like what this Chick guy protrays us to be in his little comic "Boo." This guy obviously did no reaserch, and is being very closed minded. I respect Christians in what they do, because my family is Christian, and I think Christianity is good, although I personally find Wicca more to my personally spirtiual ground. But this Chick guy is being one of the worst Christians I think possible. But that is just my opininon. MM lion. If you ever feel bushy tailed, join me in the Religion section. I'd love Swans to get a second opinion on this Pagan bent we share

Can we not try to convert people here? Let people beleive what they want. What you feel is right, is right. Don't let others try to tell you otherwise.

Isn't that disgustingly manipulative? ("Make it stop, make the fake baby talk stop!") Try something by Steven Brust. The first Vlad Taltos novel, Jhereg, is worth a look.

thats horrible! everyone around here goes to church on halloween to ward off evil spirits.. does anyone here know the true story of halloween?
its the celtic new year's eve. they just celebrate it oddly. in its early days in america, the pranks were things such as tipping over outhouses and unhinging doors...
WE NEED MORE OUT-HOUSES!!!!!!

The Church copied and re-named the eight sabbats. The Winter Solstice became Christmas, Imbolg became Candlemass, Beltaine became May Day, and Lughnasadh became Lammas. For example, the vernal equinox was celebrated as Easter, which is always the first Sunday after the first full moon following the spring equinox. The Grand Druids or men of the oaks, that lived in the ancient British Isles gathered at Stonehedge on October 31st. These ancient witches practiced human sacrifice, (which I of course disagree with, but I'm not going to sugar coat it) hollowed out pumpkins and turnips, carving faces in them, and then used candles made from human tallow to illuminate them. The druids played games such as bobbing for apples, as they floated in a tub of October ale. The apple was thought to be sacred, because when cut in half cross-wise, the core would reveal the Pentacle or five pointed star. The five points of this star represented Earth, Wind, Fire, Water and Spirit. off-topic, but I love talking Halloween.

I was raised from birth in a family/church that held the information in those Chick tracts to be divine truth. I never went trick or treating. I never had an Easter basket, or a Christmas tree. I missed out on being a kid because my family decided that me getting a Valentine might endanger my immortal soul. Not only do I loathe the writer of those tracts, to this day I have an unreasonable disgust towards all things religious that I am only now beginning to outgrow. I despise people who give these things to children. No religion should rely on fear to keep people faithful.

I used to read the Chick tracts, but now, after doing more research, I see that they're, frankly, stupid. I don't disagree with trying to share one's faith (longer rant in the Christianity thread), but this is just the wrong way of doing it. The comics are a good idea. But so is accuracy. The one that really annoys me is the one where girls become witches just because they read Harry Potter books, they made it seem as if upon reading these books a person automatically became evil (this is when I started to doubt the accuracy of these things, and went to learn stuff for myself). I'm a Christian, and I love the Harry Potter books. They have a good theme and all that stuff, it's just in a more fantastical setting than most books... it's not written to convince children to start casting spells. Last, for more 'Let's make fun of Jack Chick humor,' there is www.teemings.com/extras/lotr/j/jackchick.html for LOTR fans (non-fans would probably find it amusing, too, for that matter).

If you read my post on pg 12 of the religoin thread, you don't need to convert people to worship! My God! Or Blessed Allah or Lack of Divine Presence or Zeus or Amon-Rah or Satan or whatever the heck you believe! Because I don't have a problem with it, whatever it is!

And if you read my post in the religion thread, you'll see why I witness to people. Not that I'll hate them if they don't convert, or never speak to them again because they're evil, or press the matter if they want to drop it. However, witnessing is one of the responsibilities of a Christian, whether you like it or agree with it or not.
