Yes, after seeing the movie for the first time, I was quite upset becaus at that point in time, I hadn't read all the books. I personally think they should've made the movie a series, instead of trying to put all of the info into one movie, although we still dont know if some of the info in the movie is true.

I just relised as i was watching the movie that they are giving away infomation from future books. I know this has already partly been discussed but some of what i have to say is new. 1. the shop olaf stops at is called the last chance store wich is from book the eight. Actually, the store in the movie is called the Last Chance Superette, in the books it's Last Chance General Store, so it's not totally the same thing. Plus, it makes the Last Chance seem like a chain, adding depth into the world. aunt jose even tells them what VFD stands for. i find this abit odd that the movie is giving away the story line but oh well. please reply to this with your thoughts. When does she tell them what VFD stands for, exactly?

I don't recall Aunt Josephine saying, in the movie, what V.F.D. stood for (although all those photographs implied Volunteer Fire Department). However, she did say that the Baudelaire parents were their leaders.
I don't think that the secret organisation was even explicitly named as V.F.D. in the movie, although the letters did turn up from time to time.

True; no one calls it VFD(it's just some sort of club) but there's the box in the desk drawer with the initials on it, the blimps in the end credits, and possibly other things I'm forgetting.

I do think that the movie kind of messed up the V.F.D. mystery a little bit.

They never really solved the mystery of VFD, so I'm hoping that they make a sequal.

Hmm.. yeah I see what you mean. I was like "AAAAAHHHHHH" when I saw The Last Chance.. and no one else shared my animation. And the Littlest Elf was great. My cousins must have thought I was weird cause I kept laughing through it.
And yeah, VFD was messed up a lot..

Nah, we need one thread in the Burdensome Books to deal with the link between the books and the movie (or lack of). However, this probably does belong in Sardonic Series... I don't know why I never moved it. I'll do that now.

Uncle Monty, in the books, says he's been meaning to get a wife and start a family, but never got a chance.

Yes, while in the film he said he had a wife and a family but they all exploded. Or something. . .
