en.wikipedia.org/wiki/VFDThis is from an online encyclopedia; I found it accidentally. Note that it mentions a previously unknown meaning apparently specific to that site. It also mentions Lemony Snicket--proof of his fame.

That's neat. I didn't know Lemony Snicket was popular enough to be put in an encyclopedia.

That's cool beans, cuz I would never think that an online dictionary would have aSoUE related words, let alone all that information with them.

In the list, it has Lemony Snicket as a link. CLick on it, I found it funny.

Umm, the Wikipedia is an encyclopedia which anyone can contribute to. Most likely a fan added that page. So it isn't all that surprising anyways. But still, its cool

Umm, the Wikipedia is an encyclopedia which anyone can contribute to. Most likely a fan added that page. Exactly. Anyone can contribute any old junk. For example, "Volunteer Feline Detectives" seems to have been added to the list, and that's certainly not an official definition. Edit: "Volunteer Feline Detectives" seems to have been removed by me.

Somewhere I found an abbreviation dictionary which listed quite an eclectic variety of meanings for VFD, several of which were fictional--they included "Volunteers Fighting Disease".

My 6th grade social studies teacher said it. But that's not saying much. So what if it's fan added? At least we see our author in an encyclopedia lots of people will read.
