Pardon me if I have The Dilema Depens, and The Situation Worsens mixed up with book numbers. I don't have that good memory.
ANYWAY, I say The Trouble Begins.

I'm not entirely sure about titles, but Dilemma Deepens has the best cover.

I don't know. I don't like Olaf's expression. Other than that, it probably is the best, though. I actually rather like The Gloom Looms. It presents to me the image of a dark cloud overhead, approaching...

I like "The Dilemma Deepens." For some reason, I like the word "dilemma," and it seems the most Snicket-esque.

The Dilemma Deepens. Alliteration, truth...is very good. I like it because that's just what happening around the time of those books, the dilemma is deepening; more and more V.F.D. presence.
The Gloom Looms is rather awful. I don't like the focusing on the "gloom." That's more appropriate to earlier books, I feel; these are more into the mysterious mysteries.

Dilema Deepens is the best. Not just because of its very Snicket-y title but because of the books inside of it.

Are we debating the box cover, or the books inside?

Are we debating the box cover, or the books inside? The titles. Although I agree that it's no longer easy to tell... So long as you talk about the title, I'm fine with people mentioning the covers or the books inside.

The Dilemma Deepens. Alliteration, truth...is very good. I like it because that's just what happening around the time of those books, the dilemma is deepening; more and more V.F.D. presence. It's my favorite for the same reason--it's the only alliterative one. Also, the Dilemma bit is true indeed; in these books moral dilemmas come into play for the first time, as the orphans are forced to do villainous things to survive.
