Wow, I said something productive. You're right, the eye did seem like a symbol of villainy in tss. And they said that it had replaced the watchful eyes of their parents. But yes, VFD and all its volunteers are in hiding while villains are running free walking all over them. But no more... In books 12 and 13 we shall see.... Yes we will see.

Innocent volunteers can't be forced into hiding forever, nor can villains escape righteousness for 13 books straight.

Your point is.

... My point is that we will see the volunteers escape from their hidden jeopardized lives and defeat the villains, that's my point.

Don't count your chickens before they hatch, Jedi. Then what do you think the tables turning means? You think EVERY SINGLE volunteer will live in hiding from the evil people and authorities forever, or else die? You think the villains will just run rampant forever after book 13 continuing their reign of terror indefinitely?

I suspect that, in the end, some of our villains will be captured. However, there won't be an entirely happy ending; Handler has said that the ending won't be cheerful, but it won't be hugely tragic either. Some volunteers may live on safely, but I think many more will die.

Victory for V.F.D., but at a terrible price ([/cliché]). Sounds right.

The term for such an event is a "Pyrrhic victory", one in which VFD wins but most of its members end up dead.

Oh, I remember the phrase now. It was on the edge of my mind... Funnily, "Pyrrhic" reminds me of "Pyromania" or "Pyre," which is rather apt.

It is so. And of course one could argue that most of its members are already dead...
