Klaus frowned and turned to his sister. "What choice do we have?" he asked. "This is our new home Violet, and we have to live here. At least this place is secluded: seeing that she wants us in her care, our new relative probably doesn't read the Daily Punctilio. If we look on the bright side, at least we're save from everyone who wants us in jail." Klaus took a deep breath and knocked on the door.

Eddi opened the door, breathing very heavily, Geney clutched at her side. "Welcome to the clinic, Baudelaires. This is my daughter, Geney" Eddi twitched. "Geney, shake their hands."
Geney stumbled off the doorstep, and wrenched Violet's fingers. She gave her a big breath of blood-scented air in the face, before greeting Klaus and Sunny. She smiled. "I'm so excited, I've always wanted siblings!"

Geney absentmindedly started running her hands through her algea-green hair, pulling it back, over and over. Eddi pulled her hand away.

"Um," Violet said, looking unsure of what to say next, "pleased to meet you?" She stood up straighter, determined to make a good impression. "My siblings and I are really quite grateful that you have made this decision to adopt us," she looked down again, rubbing her rapidly swelling hand. She looked questioningly at Geney's bizarre behavior and Eddi's response before diverting her eyes once again.

"Um," Klaus said, following suit on Violet's actions. "Please to meet you too." He tightened his bow as to make himself look neater. Geney and Eddie seemed to be some of the most unusual relatives yet, but first impressions still counted.

Geney smiled and twitched. "I'm fine! I couldn't be better!"
Eddi smoothed her hair back. "As I'm sure you've been told, you'll be expected to...help out..."

Violet looked at Sunny. "My sister means that we would be happy to help out. With what, may I ask?"

"Oh, cleaning, filing. But mostly research."

"Research?" Violet asked slowly. "What kind of research?"

"I'll tell you more tommorrow, after you get adjusted to your new environment."
"Come on, I'll show you your room!" Geney gave Violet's arm a violent yank, and led the Baudelaires through a door that said "Employees Only".
The door led to a tile tunnel with a few trollleys against the walls. "It's through this door."
The room seemed to be a hospital room that was masquerading as a child's bedroom. The disguise was a spurious one. It was large, and divided by a green screen. One half had an adult-sized hospital bed in it, with purple bedding. On the floor was a small purple shag rug, and the window had thin purple curtains. There was a shelf to the left with a miniature set of screwdrivers on it, and a closet with wooden blinds for a door.
The other half had a child sized hospital bed and a crib, both with blue blankets. There was a stuffed cat inside the crib, and a set of oddly shaped blocks beneath it. This half also had a window, a shelf, and a closet with wooden blinds, but there were two textbooks and one dictionary on the shelf.
In short, whoever had arranged it was trying to be a good guardian, or seem like one, but their circuits shorted out.

Violet gazed around the room, at a loss for words. "It's lovely," she said finally, caressing her very sore arm.
The eldest Baudelaire sibling made her way to the set of screwdrivers, her inventing mind thinking of the many things that she could begin to create with such tools.
