Or Olaf could have an accomplice inside Poe's office. Somebody betraying Poe's trust by telling tales to Olaf, or subtly influencing Poe. Someone like Quisling! Of course, if there's no Gorgon in the Grim Grotto (the grotto is called Gorgonian Grotto) then that theory will go down the tubes. Yes, yes that would work. Their will definitly be something to do with the Gorgons though. My guess is human shaped rock formations.

At the very least, maybe there'll be a legend about Gorgonian Grotto involving a villain known as Gorgon, or just a regular gorgon, but more important.

But then why capitalise them in the Rare Edition? Why? "They're names" won't work. I'd allow that for Quisling, but not for Gorgon.

At the very least, maybe there'll be a legend about Gorgonian Grotto involving a villain known as Gorgon, or just a regular gorgon, but more important. Maybe there's a greek or whatever myth about it, and Lemony will give us some history on it. But I don't think it's in any myths...

Gorgon is the creature also known as Medusa, a woman with snakes for hair who could turn people to stone. Since she's a mythical creature, I doubt we'll see her in Snicket's books, which are semi-grounded in reality. There's also a type of coral called "Gorgonian".

Actually there were three gorgons, one of whom was called Medusa. She was the only one who was mortal and she was the mother of Pegasus.
Edit: And can you explain the capitalisation in the BBRE? Can you?

Gorgon is a proper noun, so it's normally capitalized. "Quisling" is the name of a famous traitor, so like "Benedict Arnold" it's come to be a term for traitors in general. However, the common noun form of Quisling is usually lowercased. Maybe the capitalization was just a minor mistake on Lemony's part. I'll figure this out later.

I'm pretty sure there were other proper nouns - and if all the other capitalised names were characters, you'd have though he'd avoid including names that weren't going to be characters.

The other capitalized names were Olaf, Sir, Nero, and Esmé, all characters we've met. Gorgon and Quisling may or may not be characters that we'll meet. Maybe in this case we should just wait and find out.

If there's a Gorgon, he/she will be in the Grim Grotto. I mean, come on, the grotto is called Gorgonian Grotto.
If there is no such character mentioned, then I shall concede defeat.

yes! no reletive wanted one. in the opening of VV Poe (whos not that clever) is talking on the phone. however, if u turn to the end of BB u read about Justice Strauus saying that they as in the Baudelaires should follow their parents wishes. so technically, V.F.D. was the place they wanted to go cause of past guardians remberances. i recently read VV so i can remeber this today.
