To My Kind Editor,
I hope this letter is not mangled by the ferocious and deadly in which I am hiding now thirteen hundred , ninteen and one half miles (DOOBY kilometers) from the resturant where you celebrated your most recent birthday
may then exchange (at a near laundromat or jewellery store) for (illegibale word) look for a (tops of two words. Looks like shaed heo-that word cut off)
with a long mustache. She will give you the complete manuscript of THE CARNIVOROUS CARNIVAL, along with a satchal, containi- circumtances should you repair -it is (smudged word) the last____________________survivor of the Baudel-
a sketch of Chabo, the Wolf Baby and Madame Lulu (tip of word-looks like pro-something), or at least what is left of
Remember, you are me last hope that the takes of the Baudelaire orphans can be finally told to the general public.
With all due respect Lemony Snicket
Now-there are many threads on different things on this letter, so let's jam them all into one thread. Things to point out:
-What should the editor not repair inder any circumstance -There's a long cap between 'the last' and 'surivior of the Baudel-' What could that be? -DOOBY kilometers-Tocuna had a theory on this, which I'd ask if we could post it here. -'Chabo, the wolf baby, and Madame Lulu' Sounds almost as if thats three different people. I doubt it, as it says they are sketches. Chapter Two picture is of Sunny as Chabo, and there's the one of Lulu reading Olaf's fortune at Chapter Nine or Ten.
Notice anything else. Please post.

It is possible that the gap between "Last" and "Survivor" is "Juvenile". This could indicate that there is indeed a surviving parent.

-What should the editor not repair inder any circumstance Whatever was in the satchel he was given, possibly a bomb or gun. I think the torn word after "look for a--" is "shard". Shard of the sugar bowl? I never thought there was intended to be a gap there, but the paper edges don't fit together without something in between. For some reason I thought the word "remaining" went between the two. My DOOBY thread. Actually, "the wolf baby", is a modifier of "Chabo", but maybe it shouldn't have those commas. Grammar rocks.

The thing in shards which the editor must not repair is undoubtably the crystal ball.

Great observance! However, we still have the problem of why the editor must not repair it. It's just a crystal ball, not magical. And if the crystal is magical, its only use would be seeing the future, which is not dangerous. Weird.

Well, I think 3/4 of the stuff in the letter to the editor is fluff and filler in a Snicket sense of humor. And the rest are things that will be revealed in the next book. And since we have the next book...

Maybe the shards were extra sharp or extra delicate.

But if the broken crystal was repaired, the shards would no longer be pointy or dangerous. Perhaps that part falls into the class of "humorous filler put in to make us mildly confused" as opposed to the class of "significant stuff."

Perhaps...just perhaps...there's a hidden order that has to be preserved about the way the crystal breaks, somehow relaying a message.
But I doubt it.

Maybe there are words inside the crystal ball, like printed words inside it, like a code, or something. I don't know. Just an idea...

The woman with the long mustache could have been a VFDer disguised or another freak we havn't met yet or who quit.

Perhaps that part falls into the class of "humorous filler put in to make us mildly confused" as opposed to the class of "significant stuff." maybe because it had something important for the bad VFD hiding in there (maybe the sugar bowl) and when the bauds broke it they just simply didn't notice it

Possibly. But wouldn't the Baudelaires have seen it when they looked into the crystal ball?
