i would say yes because they tried to kill Violet and Klaus by cutting the caravan off of Olafs car.

Indeed. I hate the freaks more than any other character in asoue. ESPECIALLY Kevin. I hope he is eaten by carnivorous lizards.... and then driven over by a monster truck with flaming, spiked tires. Thrice.

I have a rather split view. In the beginning, i believe they were just misled by their lack of self-esteem and back-bone. But as the series goes on,they seem to growing with malice.( It just thundered when I wrote that..strange)

I wouldn't say that they became evil... I think that the attitudes of their new employer and his accomplices had a detrimental effect on their own sense of morality.
They're woefully misguided, but it didn't seem like they had any other option. The Baudelaires helped to burn down Caligari Carnival too, remember.

Yes, but the Baudelaires are being followed by bad luck and Olaf. It was either them being disguised and burn down something that Olaf would have burnt down anyways, or reveal their identities and get captured and killed. With the freaks, they had a choice to leave and get emloyed and live good moral lives. Well, Kevin and Colette did, and Hugo could have sued for them NOT accepting him, if they where prejudiced because of his hump. Or he could wear a big coat.

I was going to say the freaks were evil, but considering the way the world treated them I can't blame them for being completely demoralized. Remember the situation they were in when they got Esme's offer to join the gang. Every single "normal" person who attended the carnival was gleefully prepared to watch them being devoured by lions. Madame Lulu thought it was a great idea to improve business.
It was evil of them to join Olaf? Yes, but the world around them was altogether more evil.

Yes, but Kevin and Collette could have hidden their abilities and be "normal people" and Hugo could have worn a large coat... or worked in some lighthouse somewhere. Better than being devoured.

When I think about the attitudes in the world of SOUE, I'm not so sure any more. They might still be hounded if they tried. I can see the Daily Punctilio headlines now: "FREAKS CHICKEN OUT OF LION SHOW, TRY TO LEAD NORMAL LIVES."

At the beginning of their membership of COT, I don't think they were evil, just brainwashed, but I don't know now.

I don't think they're evil. They thought Count Olaf and co. accepted them for who they were, and they just wanted to be included in something where they were told they wouldn't be treated as freaks, but as employees. I don't believe any of them are truly evil, but they're afraid if they do wrong Olaf will desert them, and they'll be no more then freaks again.

I think they're too naive for that... They probably don't have interest in the sugar bowl or anything. So I would say no, they don't become evil. They follow Count Olaf without really giving a thought to it.
And I love Kevin!
Don't say that about him!

I would definitely say that they are not evil. The freaks are far too easily influenced and gullible to be evil. They really spend too much time feeling sorry for themselves to realize what is going on around them. Like Dash said, when they joined Olaf's troupe, they thought that they were finally being accepted. The freaks may do some evil things (like everyone does), but that does not mean that they are evil.
