I love TBL design. It's wonderful and much more beautiful than I have ever imagined it. And The Lettergram thing reminds me of The Versailles Post Office from TUA.
Gigi, I wish it was my hand ;(.

Well, my speculation is over. I finished my first run through TBL. You can view my notes in the spoilers thread.

Guys! I have it and I've read it and you can view my notes of it in the spoiler thread as soon as I post them. Also, as soon as I've uploaded all the pictures, I'll make a thread about the 826 Benefit/Doughnuts With Handler event in Weary Writer, with pictures. For now, you'll have to settle with me holding my copy , or, as per Gigi's advice, my copy in a Ziploc bag.

You forgot the picture of Handler's autograph! Be sure to include that in your WW thread.

A couple of things that just struck me, apropos of nothing:
1. Gigi mentioned a cool surprise when we see the book on Tuesday, something to do with the word "Letters," perhaps? So I was looking at the illustration in Gigi's signature, and noticed the large L at the beginning of "Letters," and the large S at the end of "Letters." LS, get it? Meaningful? Probably not.
2. Some time ago, people were discussing the negative space at the back of the silhouette on the cover illustration, and that it looked like another profile of Beatrice. This in turn got me thinking about the suggestion that there were two women named Beatrice. Now, there's an interesting idea. Meaningful? Probably not. But I'm intrigued by the idea, anyway.
Can't wait until Tuesday!
Edit: I also can't believe there's three pages in the TBL spoiler thread already, and I'm not in on it!

*slaps hand to forehead*
Thank you!
Something you just said made one of my points of confusion make sense!
(Sorry for the outburst. You'll understand on Tuesday.)

(A Silly Theory)
Maybe, Violet's real name is Beatrice.
It's stupid, I know. But that empty space is just sooo much like Violet, it's hard to ignore.

I'm leaning toward that theory too [Violet = Beatrice II]. Some letters may be from her.

She might be, but I doubt it. I think there is or was two Beatrices wether it was a person or inanimated object or both.

An update from Britain: I do not have The Beatrice Letters. Dupin does not have The Beatrice Letters. The stores we visited did not have it. Waterstones told me that none of their branches in the country had it. Ottakar's told Dupin that it was out here on - get ready for this - the 11th. I've e-mailed Egmont asking what's going on with the release date. They never replied to my last e-mail, or at least I never got a reply, so I'm not sure if I'll hear more information. However, for the moment, the truth about the British release date of TBL has been thrown into absolute confusion. If any British people have The Beatrice Letters, or know when it is released, or know somewhere that's selling it, they should tell me right away via PM and also post details here if they so wish. Preferably with evidence, details of where they bought it, no spoilers whatsoever, etc. American people who have The Beatrice Letters should be considerate and not gloat.

Well that is horriable. Having waiting so long and then finding out you have to wait longer.

Play.com, a British run site, has it as 'Out now' though, and says they're 'waiting for delivery of stock' or something.

That's strange. I asked Waterstones over here a couple of days ago and they said they'd have it on the 9th. It being a British company, I'm sure they'll have it then. Unless my branch was just wrong.

That's strange. I asked Waterstones over here a couple of days ago and they said they'd have it on the 9th. It being a British company, I'm sure they'll have it then. Unless my branch was just wrong. Well, nothing's confirmed yet, although I personally fully expect either the worst to be confirmed or for nothing to be confirmed at all. UPDATE: I got a reply from Egmont. It's actually not unreasonable. I'll just reproduce it here in full: --- We wholeheartedly apologise for the confusion. This was due to a mix up from the US publishers who wanted to release the books simultaneously in the UK and the US. Although we will be doing so with Book the 13th this causes enormous logistical problems
The official date was kept at September 4th even though most stores won't get the books until today/tomorrow. The reason is that we held off releasing the books from our warehouse until last Friday. We are confident that all bookstores who placed an order will have the books by the end of this week. Following the hasty release our distributors are struggling to advise which stores will get theirs first.
I'm sorry that it has caused many problems and may I suggest you call the bookstores before visiting.--- Basically, it's partly the fault of HarperCollins, which I confess I had suspected. Thanks, guys.
