This is terribly exciting. I cannot wait until it comes out.

Lord above. Well, I think I'll add my vote to the consensus.
Backstory backstory! My only minor sorrow is that it's sure to blow Noble Uniforms out of its semi-canonical waters, and probably Crystal Shards too, which is a shame really. I'm rather fond of my versions of things...
But still...ah...slather...

Any thoughts on the ribbon-type thing above Beatrice? I have been contemplating it; it seems possibly a bit too strange and purposeful to be simply random decoration. Does anyone else think it resembles somewhat a canopy, like a wedding canopy? This would go with the flowers in her hair, too. It might also be imagined as a shroud, albeit with a little twisting of the mind.
I keep having the strangest urge to refer to the picture as "our" Beatrice. My mind has trouble accepting its reality...

The cover is gorgeous with a capital M. The cover looks really elegant, just like I picture Beatrice to be. She looks beautiful. Thanks, Dante. The relative sizes of the two parts of the title interests me, too. The title could almost be Letters, and "The Beatrice" the caption of the picture. It would work - it could permit the book to include letters not necessarily directly/obviously to do with Beatrice (written by, to, or about her), and the caption would fit with Baudelaires poem " La Béatrice." I've often wondered about that ; strange to refer to someone by "the!" But it fits in, really, with the near-iconization of various Beatrices in the minds of Dante Alighieri and Lemony Snicket. That would make sense, especially if Handler is trying to loyal to the poem (although that would make Beatrice a really horrible person). I was wondering about the seperation too.

Well I for one would welcome the idea of it being a literally package. It would be an interesting format and it would give it some verisimilitude. a collection of revealing correspondence What does this mean? Revealing secrets kept from one another? Revealing their true identity which they have covered through disguise?
It would be great if if there were more than one correspondents as that would give us more context... Her hair seems really elegant as suggested before possibly hinting a wedding. Personally I think it could have been taken at the masked ball in her dragonfly costume.

Wow, this is incredibly exciting. I can't wait. That silhouette of Beatrice reminds me of Violet in the Marvelous Mariiage for some reason. It's a pity about TNN being nothing of importance but by the sounds of things this will more than make up for it.

I will continue to be cynical:
While there are suggestions that the book may literally be a package, remember that some of the U.A.'s synopses and indeed pretty much any description of the book's contents would make it sound like a package or collection or papers as well, and yet it is not. Also recall that the preview of TBL on the linked PublishersWeekly site refers to it as a book.
lauren, I think it meant "revealing" from our perspective - i.e. it would be very revealing about the mysterious backstory of the series.
Personally, I'm inclined to think that the cover is just random decoration, just intended to make the book and Beatrice look elegant and associate her with lovely decorations and such. I'd noted the large difference in size, font etc. between the two halves of the title, although rather than thinking that it held any significance, I merely thought of it as rather poor design.

The cover does have kind of a wedding-ish look to it, and certainly an appearance of elegance. Also, I noticed something odd that I'm not sure was intentional, another profile hidden on the right side of Beatrice in the negative space. And both the big profile and the little one do look slightly like Violet, perhaps tying into the possibly significant comparison of her to a woman who's no longer alive.

It looks too perfect. Even the ribbons look like ringlets. Eh, I'm not noticing any particular resemblance to Violet in the profile. It just looks like general Helquist art style to me. The chin in particular looks quite different (maybe less so on the hidden profile, though), and the hair. I think people may just be reading too much into this.

On the larger profile on the chest there are weird parts, I couldn't waork out what they were at first but then dismissed it as part of her hair, even they are visible on the negative profile. I wonder if it's suppose to have any meaning.

Oh, snap. I missed that, Antenora. Beatrice looks nothing like Violet, in my opinion. Although some people could say that the ribbons look like a ribbon that Violet would wear in her hair, I don't think so, myself.

Well. Finally a book with more information than one of the regular books in the series. I think we finally may uncover some useful information here...
I wouldn't be looking into the cover too much. Other than the portrait of Beatrice, the stuff on it may just be there to make it look elegant and presentable. It is, however, a good enough cover for me.
I can't wait for this "book" (for lack of a better word). It brings the excitement of other upcoming books right back.

Woah! good spotting Antenora! That was not a mistake, like everyone else said it's too perfect to have been done unintentionally. The ribbons remind me of a Ms Bass's hairstyle, but that wouldn't really fit.

Seems fishy..... I think it's a clue to something bigger. Maybe Olaf attempted the wedding scheme before, but with Beatrice? Perhaps it somehow worked?
