No... Frodo didn't have the power to do so. He's a hobbit. The ringwraiths would have taken the ring for Sauron. Or Frodo would have fallen into Mount doom somehow and destroyed himself and the ring which would be ok cause I don't like frodo. ditto.

Even though it seems like Sam is the hero, and Frodo is not, Frodo really is the hero. Why? Because if sam was in charge he would have killed Gollum. If Gollum was killed, the ring would have never been destroyed. Frodo's pitty (just like Bilbo's) saved Middle Earth. Of course Frodo would not have been able to do the quest without Sam. They definatly needed each other. But Frodo is still the hero.

But Sam wouldn't have been willing to start the quest in the first place.

The essence of them both combined can be said to be the hero because neither one of them would have gotten close to success without the other. gandalf set the whole thing up though.

Gandalf is the best. without Gandalf Sam would NOT have been able to go with frodo.OR Frodo and sam would not have survived if gandalf had not come with the Eagles in the thirs film

Yep. And frodo and sam would have been attacked by ringwraiths and murdered in the shire without gandalf because they wouldn't have known the ring was a ring of power.

I voted Pippin just because Billy Boyd is cute.

Yeah wonderful Pippin who tends to drop and set fire to many things. But it's okay, his looks make up for it all.

I think that Aragorn is the real hero of LOTR. I mean, he's got the brains, the braun, and, hell, he's hot.
