Maybe it was made to er...shoot lightning out of it? I dunno. Maybe it does more damage to trolls, since it was in a troll's den.

Well Merry's blade had 'magical' powers or so to speak...Merry made the Witch-King mortal and Eowyn finished him off...so I'd think it's pretty possible.

That is interesting because a Numenorean man, not an elf, forged Merry's sword...
I guess that does make sense because among the Numenorean faithful (and the faithful wound up in Middle Earth) the elven arts were kept alive.

They were gifted with cultivation and building arts that men of Middle Earth did not know, plus they had exceptionally long life; their first king (Elrond's brother) lived to 500. Even though their line has suffered so much Aragorn himself lived till 210 I believe.

Hehe. I can only speculate on how potent the swords from Numenor itself were. Anyone know any stories? They must've been amazing.
