Lothlorien nearly got me, but in the end Lindon and the Grey Havens prevailed. The last bit of Beleriand...the realm of Gil-Galad...the passage to Valinor...

*frown*
My favorite Lord of the Rings place would be Lothlorien. My favorite non-LotR place would probably be Gondolin and most of Beleriand.
And the Gray Havens are horrorshow.

I know that this is ridiculous...
...but I don't think I could be content there, at least, not only there. Its beauty is so static it seems almost artificial. All the great musicians of the Elves went to Middle-earth, and the greatest beauty, Luthien, was of Doriath. Something in the fragile nature of the realms of Beleriand makes them more moving to the mind.
But in Beleriand, I'm torn. I know that eventual destruction comes to so many (well, all) of the great realms. Part of me wants to be heroic on Himring, another to cower in Doriath.

But the glory of Valinor isn't artificial, it's heavenly. It's essentially a true heaven on earth. And how do we know ALL great musicians went to Middle Earth? There could be some in Alqualonde, or some vanyar, or some remaining Noldor that were good in song. And as for beauty there's the valar for that and plenty of other random elves. And it doesn't get destroyed. No, not even in the Dagor Dagorath. [/history no one will ever care about]

Even though all those places are good, Edoras is like in the middle of no where. no one could disturb you. At least in the movie they make it look awesome.

Valinor is sort of in the middle of nowhere. And yet in Aman you can kind of go anywhere. Beach? Go to Alqualonde. Forest? Go to Lorien(not to be confused with lothlorien). Want mountains? The pelori. Plus no evil comes there. ever. And the streets' dust is crystals. The only problem is there's never any snow.

I always thought rivendell to be an ok place, to live anyways. Its right on the river, and of course its a place of elves...

You think rivendell's a place of elves, ha. Go to Valinor, then you'll see elves. And more elves. And gods.
