Though I am very happy to see some information about this subject, I doubt this movie will occur. The time has passed too much for it. They would have done it around Lord of the Rings, but maybe I'm wrong. They may do it.

As far as I know, it's definitely being made, just not Jackson that's helming it.

It's being made but complications such as the above keep delaying it. As the article said, New Line does have a time span to work with.

"In his own online statement, Jackson said that New Line executive Mark Ordesky, who shepherded the Rings trilogy, argued that New Line is dumping Jackson because the studio has a "limited time option" on the film rights, obtained from Saul Zaentz. "
i heard that the guy who owns the rights kinda wants the limited time to expire so he can offer the film directly to jackson

I do hope thats true Sam. I do want Jackson to direct the movie. It won't be the same if someone else does it. I always envisioned him doing it.

I can't bring myself to care one way or another. On the one hand, Jackson's touch would be nice.
But on the other I complained so much about how the LOTR movies were butchered, do I really want the same guy doing The Hobbit?

accoprding to the wiki Sam Raimi (Evil Dead, Spiderman) could be dooing it
that'd be cool

The issue I'd have with someone other than Jackson making them is that all those clips and things from the LOTR trilogy that had something to do with The Hobbit will be ruined, unless they replicate the sets and things.

The ones shown in the prologue from the beginning of the movie. Like when Bilbo finds the ring.

Oh those lasted about 2 minutes. I don't think it's a big deal if those don't end up getting integrated into the movie.

I really hope they do make the movie. However, like Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell, they've taken so long...and I get pretty doubtful over whether or not the movie will actually happen, but--I'll keep on praying!

Yeah, the constant interruptions and such are VERY reassuring aren't they?
