Who is your favorite Silmarillion character?
Beren and Luthien are horrorshow, and Feanor is excellent too. Turin gets points for marrying his sister, and Elwing is cool also. I'll add to my list later.

Always a tricky one, this. In no particular order-
Beren-Not the kind of character I usually like, but Beren is just too amazing for words. He has some of the most cutting lines Tolkien ever wrote, he's fearless...but not invincible.
Finrod Felagund-Again, not usually my favourite kind of character; too obviously heroic. But Finrod is irresistible. I love the line that describes him walking with his father after his release from Mandos.
Celegorm and Curufin-Splendidly haughty, cunning, evil and manipulative. My idols.
Maeglin-is called Lomion, Child of Twilight. Has coolly contrasting parents. Steals the best sword in Tolkien. Falls for cousin. Manipulative. Heart-breaking.
Maedhros-tries to do the right thing. Brave and a great fighter. Tragic hero.
Maglor. Survived, even if probably insane. The greatest singer ever (Daeron? Pah...). Good fighter too-killed Uldor the Accursed. Has a conscience and is generally good, despite the actions he's forced to carry out by his Oath which he regrets...

Lots. Earendil- come on. Background from like all houses of elves and quite a few houses of men. Plus he competely ruins morgoth and gets to be a star with an awesome ship. Rules. Tuor: Mariner. Gets to go to Gondolin. Kills evil Maeglin. Gets the jewel of Gondolin. Good. Feanor: It's not his fault he goes reckless and evillike! He has good intentions and knows what he wants. And he's swayed by none. Hurin: Awesome. Defies most powerful being in the world. Gets petrified, and throws himself into the sea. I mean, come on... And he kills 70 orcs by himself with nothing other than an axe. And would've continued but for gothmog.

Not 70 Orcs, Jacques.
70 TROLLS. While yelling "Ante enteluva! Day shall come again!"

He's in a tiny little appendix at the end. "And then there was a big war and a halfling called Frodo destroyed the ring" kind of thing.

Not 70 Orcs, Jacques. 70 TROLLS. While yelling "Ante enteluva! Day shall come again!" Trolls? Yes I knew he yelled elvish for day shall come again but I was convinced it was orc necks he hewed with his axe. Until stupid Gothomog comes in, he ruins everything, Feanor's incredibly fight, Fingon's guard, and then Hurin. I was so immensely satisfied to see him killed by the lord of the fountains. I also liked Tuor because of his messenger work and Maglor because I consider him the best son of Feanor. And Curufin. Not quite sure why as he was such an idiot to luthien and beren but it was cool how he just scooped luthien onto his horse. And he has one of my fav quotes from the silmarillion. Plus he's celebrimbor's dad and Celebrimbor rules.

You know, the whole trilogy JRR Tolkien wrote. The one that got lost and forgotten around 2001...
