I did. They were stronger songs. And his feet are faster. But they didn't show him at all. They completely skipped him. Blah.

I think it was perfectly reasonable for them to leave him out because although he is a cool character in himself, he didn't really contribute to the overall plot.

No but that doesn't mean they should leave out a chunk of the book entirely. And besides it helps you grasp the sort of power wizards in middle earth have.
