everything everywhere all at once omg tell me everything everything everywhere all at once was lots of fun. great re-watchability. maybe 10min too long (f.ex. they could've cut the scene at the stairs with the random love-help at the end); a few parts felt a bit too sketch-comedy-ey (e.g. the dog on the leash); and the first half was stronger than the second. but it's admirable in plenty of aspects... not least of all the action choreography; novel and good casting - especially the lead actress; the breakneck pace (subtletly suffers for it somewhat, alas); and i loved the bonkers humor. it felt a bit like what if edgar wright and spike jonze co-directed their version of matrix (not really a bad thing to aim for), but it still manages to be its own thing, which I'm glad it's being praised for. (more original funrides, please, not franchises.)
now i wanna check out that daniel radcliffe as a corpse film the directors did before that. omg omg omg thank you for telling me everything. I typed up a whole response and then simply broke the computer it was on before I could post it Honestly I agree they could shave off 15 minutes and benefit lol but I love every scene at this point so idk where. like I looove that scene you mention, I kinda think it's an important parallel to the violent fighting, and that the parallel there mirrors Evelyn's journey. Like being pulled between this philosophy of nihilism/nothing matters vs waymond's relentless optimism/finding the moments to cherish. I think it sets up the convo joy and evelyn have at the end pretty well. The first half being stronger almost feels like a hot-take to me. also i watched the matrix recently for the first time which also rules but I'd love the wright/jonze cut lol. & Yesss Swiss Army Man is on my to watch list as well!

The Art of Self-Defense was one of the last ones I watched which I’d never seen before. It was very funny, definitely recommend.

saw malignant during a flight. this movie is dumb and bad. i thought it could be fun and campy from what i’d read about it but it is actually boring and predictable for the most part. also i don’t like it when movies are bad as a comment on/homage to/subtle satire of something - it still reads as bad to me. however it does crank up the gore and the absurdity in the last 20 min or so in a great way - not enough to redeem the whole experience for me

oh i actually considered watching that at some point, but didnt go through with it. i guess I'll pass on it now I only watched 5 movies last month and none this month so far... it's because i should be doing other stuff, but instead i often find myself procrastinating in other ways.

I got a box set of 10 Greta Garbo movies so I’ve been devouring those. Mostly stinkers but Garbo is mesmerizing, sensational, brainboggling, one of a kind ……
