We all know that some of the names on the patient list in The Hostile Hospital are anagrams of names of people connected with the series - Lemony Snicket, Daniel Handler, Brett Helquist and so on. However, I don't think anyone has found a name which is an anagram of Ruth Dercroump - the suggestion which seems to be most widely accepted is ''torch up murder'. (At least, I've searched and not been able to find another suggestion - apologies if anyone else has proposed one.)
But....
'Ruth Dercroump' is an anagram of 'Rupert Murdoch'. Mr Murdoch is of course the head of News International, the owners of HarperCollins.

I concur with JTB. Never would have thought of that arrangement.

I believe that the Rupert Murdoch anagram was hit on quite some time ago, but not on this forum. It's interesting that some of the lesser-known names involved with the series were discovered, but not a more infamous figure.

I guess it's because Rupert Murdoch's connection with the series is less direct than the other people's. Do you know where it was spotted before?

I'd rather I had an answer other than Wikipedia, but I'm pretty sure that's where I first saw that solution. I may have overlooked it in other locations earlier, though.

Oh dear, I hadn't thought to check Wikipedia. Ah well, great minds think alike.

THeir used to be a site called the unofficial lemony snicket FAQ that had the Answers

The Unofficial Lemony Snicket FAQ's pages are preserved on TheQuietWorld somewhere. Yes, here it is. Edit: The original site is still up, but the entire front page was replaced with an announcement of Olaf's triumph, and there's no simple way to access the old material.

That FAQ is ridiculously out-of-date- there is no mention of TPP or TE.

I think the owner lost interest between TGG and TPP and pretty much just contained notices of when new books would be coming out. I think it did do TheNamelessNovel.com, though. It offers a snapshot of fan opinion at a certain time, however - and contains an interview with Snicket which contains at least one important statement.

Excuse me, but does anyone know what Ned H. Rirger is an anagram of? In my miserable existance I have managed to figure out all the other ones in Book the Eighth, but this one seems to puzzle me a great deal.
With all due respect.
