"Yeap," replied Marty, smiling. "Baking is quite fun, but eating is even more fun!" OCC: Thank you! I don't quite feel 32.

Jerome couldn’t keep himself from agreeing with that. As he caught a glimpse of himself in the television screen, however, he hoped his love of food wasn’t too obvious. “I used to like to bake cookies in my class back at Blue Melody,” he explained to Marty and Artie. “All kinds: chocolate chip and peanut butter, almond and pasticcio…” Jerome made sure to leave out the detail about the time he had baked a special heart-shaped cookie for a girl he’d had a crush on. In the end, she had rejected him— as all the girls he had ever liked had done —and he’d ended up feeding the cookie to a stray cat on the way home. [You’re welcome! And I know what you mean about not feeling your age— I’m twenty-eight, but I still feel like I’m eighteen. ]

"Wow, Jerome, those sounds good," Marty replied, smiling. "My favourite, though, are brownies."
"He even likes to eat brownie batter," added Artie. "I have to keep reminding him that eating raw eggs isn't good for you, which most brownie batter contains."
"I'm real big on chocolate," added Marty, smiling. "A world without chocolate would be almost as bad as a world without rock and roll."

"Or books," Jerome added, and blushed. "I like to read. What about you guys? Do either of you have a favorite author?"

"Well, there's my dad," explained Marty, smiling - as Artie nodded. "He writes science fiction stories, usually about aliens. I also like Jules Verne, even though that's more Doc's favourite author."
OOC: Yeah, same with me. That reminds me. I still have to edit Marty's "favourite author" in May's interview topic. I can't believe I forgot about George being an author. In a way, I guess that's another thing George has in common with Jerome - even though the book Jerome wrote was non-fictional, I believe.

"I like Jules Verne, too," Jerome said. "As well as Tennessee Williams. Though my favorite author would definitely have to be J.D. Salinger. I spent a lot of time at Blue Melody discovering his works, plus we share the same initials. What books has your father written? Perhaps I've heard of them."
[I had completely forgotten all about George being an author until I watched the movies again. I like the idea of him and Jerome bonding over their love of reading-- I always thought Jerome seemed like an avid reader, even though the penthouse only had a few books. But I figured that was all Esme's doing, like with the removal of the elevators. And yes, I think Odious Lusting After Finance was non-fiction.]

"He just finished his first novel, in fact," explained Marty. "It's called Kevin the Teenage Alien."
"So, uh, what other bands do you listen to?" asked Artie. "Besides Huey Lewis and The News and Very Fine Dudes."
OOC: In this universe, it wouldn't be A Match Made In Space - since there was no "Calvin Klein" in 1955.

"Well, I'm quite fond of Michael Bublé," Jerome replied. "Though he's more of a performer. I also like Cyndi Lauper."
[Yeah, you're right. I keep forgetting that this universe is alternate in more ways than just Marty having a twin.]

"When I was a kid, I was a big Led Zeppelin fan," explained Marty. "In fact, I still am. I even have a bigger appreciation for their more bluesy songs than I used to. Still, my preference is for blistering hard rock songs - such as Black Dog and Nobody's Fault But Mine."
"I like Stairway to Heaven," added Artie. "I think it's the best."
"Actually, I'm not as fond of that song," protested Marty. "In all honesty, I never really liked how Led Zeppelin was best known for that song - when they have plenty of songs with more of a hard rock edge to it."
OOC: That's okay. I can see why it would be confusing. At least, the Quagmire triplets will probably never appear in the story - since, in your ficverse, I guess they were born in 1986.

Jerome felt his stomach tense a bit in response to Marty's disagreement with his brother. Disagreement was just one step down from arguing-- and if there was one thing Jerome Squalor couldn't stand, it was arguing.
"My younger brother is a fan of Led Zeppelin," he said.
This was completely true. Cora and Maxwell Squalor were extremely conservative, and lately Andrew had been showing signs of rebellion. One of his favorite ways to go against his father was to listen to music and dress in ways the stockbroker didn't approve of. Andrew had even gone as far as to blast the stereo in his bedroom, to a point in which the pictures on every wall of the mansion would vibrate.
[Yeah, the Quagmires wouldn't have been born until then.]

"That sounds awesome," Marty replied, smiling. "What else does your brother like?"

"Mostly heavy metal," Jerome replied. "Andrew really enjoys the talents of AC/DC, KISS, and Alice Cooper." [Alice Cooper was the first performer/band I ever took an interest in. Until I was thirteen, the only music I listened to was the soundtrack for Cool World and video game music. ]

"Does he like Black Sabbath?" Marty asked, flashing a lopsided smile. "Actually, I'm not really that big of a fan - but I enjoy the song Iron Man." "Well, not me," countered Artie, quietly. OOC: Hey, that sounds cool.

"As a matter of fact," Jerome said, "he does. I'm sure you'll like Andrew when you meet him. He's very passionate about music, and will go on about his favorite performers for hours if you let him." [Thanks. And my brother likes the song "Iron Man".]

"You'll have to introduce us to your brother," Marty commented, flashing a lopsided smile. "I do like a lot of hard rock and heavy metal, but I also have a soft spot for power ballads."
"Do you like Christopher Cross?" added Artie. "His songs are so beautiful, I must say."
OOC: Yeah, that's a good song. Actually, I also like Sweet Leaf - even though it's probably about "grass", if you know what I mean.
