Well, you certainly are very flamboyant, Miss Spats. I feel I must ask you, and Mrs. Squalor, what happened after the fire at our last safe place? I know that you, young Fiona, were not exactly affected by the inferno, but please share how your life has been recently. After all, we here have a moment to meet up and to have access to the possibly vital information of our recent doings.
With all due respect.

*looks around* Since no one else seems to be volunteering, I guess that responsibility falls to me.
It was actually during the fire at the Hotel Denouement that I was rescued by Jerome Squalor, my estranged husband. After he carried me to safety, I told him that the best thing for both of us would be for me to go away for a while, just until things calmed down. It turned out there was one last safe place that Olaf had overlooked, nestled deep within the Mortmain Mountains. And so I hid there, waiting until a significant amount of time had passed before I returned to society.
That time came quicker than I could have expected, however, when I discovered I was pregnant with my ex-boyfriend's child. My parents are both dead, and so I had no family to turn to in my time of dire need. The only person who hadn't completely abandoned me and who I trust with my life - for they had already proven that I could - was Jerome. So I made the journey by foot down the mountains and into town, where I called him from a payphone at the Last Chance General Store. When I told him the news there was something in his voice that told me he didn't quite believe me, but that didn't stop him from taking me back. Two hours later we were sitting side by side in his Lexus, with nothing but the sound of the radio hanging over us.
I'm not sure what happened in those next nine months, but something in me changed. I was kinder and more patient - according to Jerome - and happier, too. I know that has a lot to do with Emma, our wonderful little girl, but... *smiles down at Carmelita and lays a hand on her shoulder* I guess a lot of the credit should go to Carmy here as well, considering she was the one who first brought out the mothering instincts within me. I'm still the city's sixth most important financial advisor, but now I have other things to show for it, too. Like a beautiful little daughter who looks just like me, and a husband who loves me in spite of my past as a villainess.

That’s a very touching story, Mrs. Squalor. I believe I know the girl of whom you speak; your daughter, Emma. I regret to say that my story is nearly as delightful - but it is certainly polite to let your guests speak of their experiences first, and so I shall not distress you with the details of my tale until the other two guests have shared theirs.
With all due respect.

Why, thank you very much for your smashing compliment, R. And how interesting it is that you happen to be acquainted with my daughter - I believe she's mentioned you before as well. I am interested to hear the details of yours and the others' accounts, and might I add that allowing your guests to speak ahead of you is a very in thing to do.

Hi, Esme! I haven't seen you since God-knows-how-long. I spent the summer in Lebanon with Fernald. It was boiling there but I loved it. So, anyways, how's life treating you?

Hello, Fiona - how smashing it is to see you again after all this time! My, but it certainly sounds like you enjoyed your summer holiday. Mine was very much the same, as far as enjoyment goes. Jerome surprised me with two first-class plane tickets to Paris where we renewed our wedding vows and kissed beneath the Eiffel Tower. *squeals with excitement from the memory* It was the most romantic moment of my life, and topped everything that Olaf ever did for me - or rather, claimed he did for me.

Oh my god, Esme! I went to France a few years ago and it was amazing. I'll be graduating from high school in early June. I wonder what I'm getting for my graduation gift? I'll be taking Klaus to my senior prom in April. This is my prom dress: And Klaus's tux:

Until Jerome and I kissed underneath the Eiffel Tower, I didn't think there was a reason why so many refer to Paris as The Most Romantic City in the World. Judging by your attire, you and Klaus are going to be the innest people at the prom! I went to mine with Bertrand Baudelaire - he wore a black tuxedo and I a beautiful baby blue gown made of satin. They were similar to these:

Fernald's 27. And he's in a relationship with some college girl I hate.

*hugs Carmy back*
Yes, as dear as what Bertrand and I once had will always be to me, Jerome is the one I want to spend the rest of my life with. There isn't a man alive I can possibly love more, or who would make a better father for my daughter.
Anyway, hello, darling! It's been ages since we've seen each other - how are you?
And Fiona, that is some terribly unsmashing news concerning Fernald! What is it about his girlfriend that causes you to dislike her so much?

She's a monkey. And they sleep around too much. Since I live in a bungalow with Fernald, I can hear them when they're sleeping around. Soon she might get knocked up and marry Fernald. I definitely don't want her as my sister-in-law. Yeah it sounds gross.

Well, this girlfriend of Fernald's certainly sounds like a dreadful person. Hopefully they're remembering to be responsible throughout all of their... *cough* time together. That's one thing I never considered during my relationship with Olaf, but at least I can say it all worked out for the best.
