Did Olaf know that Olivia/Madame Lulu was a fake? I WAS listening to the audiotape yesterday but because I was so comfortable on the settee, curled up in my duvet and the fac that I didn't sleep well the night before that I dropped off to sleep for a little while. When I woke up, I felt very confused and disorientated about what was going on. All I remember is that I was thinking about Mr. Remora and that he has the same first name as Kevin the carnival freak in my ficverse It's for Dag Inne om Liv av Olaf, by the way.

I'm pretty sure that he didn't know she was a fake. The fact that he didn't seem to care about her death may indicate that he'd realised the truth, but that's more an aspect of the fact that Olaf's a monster, I think; he relied on Olivia's advice for a long time, but then there came a point where he no longer needed it. It's possible, though, that when Olivia told Olaf that Beverly, Elliot and Chabo were the Baudelaires, that she also confessed to being a fraud. That's when I'd place any realisation or revelation.

Plus, Olaf seems to go along with her façade as a fortune teller, and obviously doesn't realize she doesn't actually get answers from her crystal ball. If he knew who she really was (because she was possibly at one time in V.F.D.), he'd probably question where this information was coming from, rather than follow it with unwavering faith.
