Come to think of it, don't we both agree that Fiona doesn't really listen to music - or am I confusing you with someone else?

The Baudelaires - Classical music (Beethoven, Mozart and Chopin)
Count Olaf - Opera, big musical fan
The Squalors - Jazz and Swing
Nero - Violin obviously
Monty - Country music
Josephine - Has a phobia of music (Melophobia)
Babs - Sings into the intercom when no one is around

Aunt Josephine's favourite song is obviously Weird Al's " Word Crimes", there's simply no room for argument on the matter. Or at least, it would be if she wasn't too afraid of the technology required to listen to it.

I believe that the series takes place in the future, and I can imagine music from now existing in the ASOUE universe. The Baudelaires like sad, melodic music and I can sometimes imagine them listening to Melanie Martinez. Her music would probably ring true to them if they heard it, as she describes many things that happened in their lives. Carmelita is a big musical theatre kid and she especially likes Cats and Mean Girls. The Quagmires are nerds who aren’t really up to date with modern music and mainly listen to classical. Fiona, due to living underwater, has only ever heard whale song and some of Captain Widdershins’s old records.
