Really neat photos. It's a good thing for the team of trackers.

Ooh, three siblings beginning with J. Not surprising, I guess, given this is VFD, but I don't think any VFD family has used this method before.
(I'm finding this whole thing a bit confusing because there is a real Gulag Archipelago, which is in the far north so probably doesn't have any jungles. However, I'm guessing Snicket's GA is a different one.)

As for the siblings' initials, I only figured they were bound to try something different. Plus, IRL, there are families who name their entire progeny under one initial, my mom's name and all of her siblings begin with M.

Gorgeous photos, Tiago! They make me want to fly down to your fictionalized Gulag Archipelago! ;D I'm looking forward to the introduction of the three J's, as well as the re-introduction of our casino escapists. @tiago: It's so cool that your mother and her siblings all have names beginning with 'M'. Both my mother and I have names starting with 'K'.

Actually I was wrong to say that no other family has used this method - there's Fernald and Fiona. If they have a sibling (and I suspect they do, though it turns out it can't be Friday, as some of us once thought) I think her name probably begins with F as well.

And that's just the crater?
August 28th isn't far away at all; this looks like it will be really exciting.

@sherry Ann: Yes.
I figured, after waiting a month for The Catastrophic Casino, you guys deserved a faster-starting fic next time, and this is it. ^^

Either J has an extreme interest in studying insects and butterflies or this is very disturbing. D. - - - - - Dear R.Q., No, I will not stop looking for my daughter. Not even them can scare me. C and I will reunite. It may not be tomorrow, or the day after, but soon. I left my shop at T.P. to the care of K, J, and F, who are very competent saleswomen, and are well versed in disguising our store should one our enemies ever come in looking for a XxXxXXXxXxXXXxXXXx - the letter was torn, and two lines were lost - XXXXxxXxWe could meet at Requiem Café again, as I have a hunch as to where V and F might be. With all due respect, D.

Lovin' the butterfly effect (wasn't there a film of that same title that came out several years ago?). J having an obsession with butterflies/insects is certainly an amusing thought. If it proves true, it makes me wonder if her/his personality is anything like this other character I love whose obsession with butterflies is pretty extreme. ;D And D owns a shop! What sort of shop is it, I wonder? Hmm... Also, Requiem Cafe is the BEST name for a restaurant.

I was reminded of Mr. Sirin when I saw that picture. I wonder if there's a connection?
I also think Requiem Café is an appropriate name--learning the identity of the writer of that note, D, is certainly exciting.

Wow. Hopefully there was no one inside (though if it was J or J or J, s/he'd probably know the eruption was coming before hand).
I also like your location for this installment.

I was reminded of Mr. Sirin when I saw that picture. I wonder if there's a connection? Oh, interesting idea! I wonder too. By the way, I think the film 'The Butterfly Effect' relates to the scientific theory of that name, that a butterfly clapping her wings in the Philippines can create a storm on the East Coast of America - i.e. small events can have large and distant consequences. You may think that's obvious, but only recently have people done the maths to show how it works. Oh, and I've just realised that all three J's are women. I was being sexist earlier when I called one of them 'he'. Mea culpa.
