whose fault was Madame Lulu's death? My opinion is: 0,1% of fault belongs to lions because they ate her. 0,4% belongs to orphans because of their behavior. 9,5%-to Flacutono, he was fighting with and her death was a result of this fight. 30%-to Esme Squalor, pushing Lulu to lions was her idea. 60%-to Madame Lulu. she made Esme angry with her compliments to Count Olaf, when Count Olaf suggested her making the show with lions, she could say him "no"but she didn't She was very careless and her death is her fault, too.

You're seriously putting more blame on Lulu for being nice to Olaf than on Esmé for for plotting to have her eaten by the lions and the bald man for pushing her into the lion pit?

I don't think that anyone good from the Lemony Snicket series would have done their own death. Although Aunt Josephine did throw an object out the window, to make it look like she had jumped. But I do think that Esmé should have got more blame, as well as the Bald Man, for playing a role in her death, seeing as Madame Lulu was very nice to Olaf.

I'm not entirely convinced that Madame Lulu died that day. I'm actually not convinced of many of the characters' deaths at all. We know that Monty is dead because we have his body. But are we sure that Josephine is dead? How can we be? How can we be sure of anything that Lemony isn't clear on? I'll have to do more research on it, but I'm just not sure that Olivia is dead at all.

I agree, many of the characters in the series do have an ambiguous end, and it's hard to say for sure whether or not they actually died. But in Olivia's case, I think the only thing Lemony is uncertain upon is whether she or the bald man fell first. It's hard to see how she would escape the lions' hunger and then the peoples' notice.

While people have suggested in the past that Olivia might have escaped through a secret tunnel or some such, I think we have to consider that she fell into a pit of ravenous lions in full view of a huge crowd of people, one of whom - and here's the important bit - had plotted her demise and was likely to be watching particularly closely. It's not quite like Aunt Josephine, where nobody was around to see whether she died or not. Although the parallels between those two are interesting - both devoured by ravenous wild animals. Exactly the fate Monty wished on Olaf, funnily enough.

You're definitely right about Esmé watching. I hadn't thought of that.
And it is interesting that VFD uses animals so much. Think about it: we know of crows, lions, bats, leeches, eagles, snakes, and still others that are commonly used by VFD members to perform tasks. In fact, in The End, Lemony makes Ink (the Incredibly Deadly Viper) sound like it's actually a member of VFD, with a mind of its own and an interesting personality. This is worth looking into.

That's very close to how I imagine her. I like the large oval eyes

Time for an experiment: I think this poll is useful, so I'm going to try and combine this thread with your previous one. Hold onto your hats. Edit: Well, what do you know, it worked. It's just a shame there's no option on the poll for "Members of the general public."

I think it is fault of all characters of the poll. Esme planed to push Olivia into the pit but she didn't do it by herself.
