Greetings, intrepid web surfer. I hope that you have not come to this thread in search of a happy experience, for you will not find that in this stream of ones and zeroes. Instead, I regret to inform you, The Other Orphans concerns the Westmacott siblings, Currer, Sue and Isak.
The Westmacotts have known only tragedy since the fire that took their parents and all seventeen of their beloved pets. Bounced from foster parent to foster parent by the board of directors of the trust foundation set up by their parents, the Westmacotts have spent their brief lives in search of the truth behind their parents' and pets' deaths, as well as relief from the menace that pursues them.
Dramatis Personae
Currer Westmacott: Currer is, at thirteen, the oldest Westmacott sibling.
Sue Westmacott: Sue, aged 9, is the middle Westmacott sibling.
Isak Westmacott: Isak is a toddler, and thus the youngest Westmacott sibling.
Gregory Lewis: Mr. Lewis is the children's handler.
Cordelia Johnson: the first foster parent of the Westmacott chilren.
Intent
This is to be a roleplaying game focused on a set of siblings with similar circumstances to the Baudelaires. Players will play one of the three children. You will notice that I have left no physical or mental description of each child. This is because the children are blank slates for the players to describe.
If you want to play, you will need to send me a PM selecting which child you want, and giving a description. The description should include personal appearance, the child's greatest interest/hobby/skill, the child's favorite and least-favorite foods, a habit or tic unique to that particular child and the name and type of their favorite childhood pet.
Play will free-form, with "Anton Felton" serving as the unseen narrator, who will open scenes and provide exposition. I (Discosoup) will write for Anton and the other NPCs, while each player will write for their orphan only.
Writing should be in the past tense, in the style of a regular ASoUE book. Players should refrain from "God-Modding," a phrase which here means "writing for your own character as well as other characters and generally being annoying rather than allowing players to write for their own characters."
If you apply and do not get in, have no fear! There will be a second thread for commentary, which may include storyline votes and contests to guess literary and pop-culture references.
