Does anyone here this game ? It's good ? When I first saw it in Amazon.com I get totally freaked ! I said that I need to have it,but after a tentative of buying it, we were informed that Amazon can't send board games for my country, only things such books. But I want to know if it really make it count.

Yeah I own that game. But I'm missing a lot of pieces and it's been a while so I can't say if it's any good.

Thanks, Sherry Ann, I didn't see this threads.
But there's another thing I want to know : what's the difference between the editions ? The one wich looks like a book, it's different from the other ?

It looks like one of them was released later than the other, judging by the dates on the reviews, but I would guess that it was probably just repackaged and remarketed.

I'm sorry we can't help more. There's very little knowledge about the Mattel merchandise for the series. Maybe it wasn't sold very widely.

I have this game(The first edition with the box that looks like a book). All in all it's an ok game, nothing totally extraordinary. I mean for fans of the books it's pretty interesting and a definite point of interest (It has an interesting set-up and a pretty unique game-play, but it can be long and arduous). Unfortunately the artist who did the design on this board game was not Helquist, so all of the drawings are off model and look like imitations. My biggest gripe though is book accuracy, it doesn't correlate to well with the books (The game board initially appears to be Olaf's home, but on closer inspection it seems to take elements from several books, the guardian featured as well is a generic guardian and thus doesn't really match any of the events of the books). If you can find it cheap then its a good buy. I got mine for $5 on eBay.
The Mattel merchandise was pretty hard to find, I remember only ever seeing it featured in MediaPlays back before they went out of business.

Maybe the game's entire design was farmed out to Mattel, then, and it doesn't actually bear much of Snicket's personal influence. I'd be quite interested to see an actual board game designed by Handler and his associates, though.

Yes, I think that with the series end since a couple of years, Handler should make a new project for ASOUE fans, like a board game by himself.

I'd be quite interested to see an actual board game designed by Handler and his associates, though. I'd say he was involved in a bit of it, the cards and instructions feature writing in his style and everything is signed with his signature. Plus he'd probably have to sign off on any merchandise they intended to sell. And as much as I'd like to see another board game I'd rather have something more substantial like a video game.

I found boards games more substantial than video games. They're so impessoal. If Handler wants to leave his mark, a board game is better than the video one.

There's a lot more about a video game that would be out of Handler's hands, too; probably more people needed in development, and therefore more need for a sure-fire seller. I think a board game is more pertinent to the series, though; it's full of very solid artifacts to be handled, rules to be grasped and learned. It fits the aesthetic, too. We should start another thread sometime to decide what we'd like in a new ASoUE board game.
